A Pilgrim’s Progress

Jeane: In this dream something happens that forces a whole community or group of people to have to move. Whether it’s a natural disaster (it’s some area like California), I don’t know. I do know that there’s an ocean not far away – I sense sand dunes or some kind of different geology there.

Some of the group stays behind while at least three of us go on ahead. We’ve gone ahead and I know that there are a series of things that can happen. In one image that I remember, I had to go into someone’s trailer.

I don’t know if it was for shelter or food or I just wanted to go there as I had a feeling I was being pursued. It’s my intention to pass through the trailer without disturbing anyone. But because the trailer is shaped like a “T,” I can’t go in one door and out the opposite side.

I end up running into a woman, with her little girl, in the kitchen, and the woman’s a little startled. I’ve disturbed them so I have to explain why I’m there, and then they seem okay.

I know there are other scenes where I’m in other homes and one image of being out by some sand dunes. Other people think the dunes are stable, but I don’t think so. And then I have this sense that when we get somewhere that seems better, I feel like I have to go back to get the others. And they don’t want to come.

I’m not sure if I even go back to get the others, or if they’re going to want to come with me, but I still feel like that is what I have to do.

John: That’s pretty interesting and pretty specific. Basically what the images start out saying, energetically, is that something has happened and you can’t go back. You’ve seen something and, whether you like it or not, you’re in trouble now and you have to go forward.

Now, as you go forward, you’re still not necessarily free from the past. So you have your bad moment; in other words, you have your reservations. Those reservations are reflected in you trying to go into the trailer as a way of catching your breath. It’s like a time-out.

So you are trying to catch your breath, and that’s shown by not wanting to run into anybody. But you do, and when you run into them, what you’re running into is actually you in a state of shock to your inner self.

But it’s a good state of shock – it’s an emerging state of shock, as represented by the little girl. So as you go forward, you still have the connection to the past and so you recognize that you have to go back and forth.

Said another way, at the very beginning you had no choice, you saw too much. You recognized something, and things couldn’t stay the way they’d been. You can’t rationalize or justify that. But you do have a tie, or a connection, to all of that, even though something more has been revealed. So you make a progression, and you have your reservations where you stop and look around a bit, yet you still feel the pull of your obligations.

In a way, you’re describing the cycle of the breath: the in-breath and the out-breath. One minute you’re going forward, and the next minute you’re going back. And you were propelled by the clarity that you had to move forward. That was one minute. The next minute you had to share that clarity (going back for the others).

It portrays the process, and shows that you have not been caught trying to protect your own treasures. You are taking nothing with you, but you do want to go back to help. If you had been drawn back by your own needs or things, that would imply self-interest, and support for separateness and duality, which requires one to be competitive and isolated in relationship to others. Your dream doesn’t have that dynamic, so that’s a good base for what wants to emerge.

The Limitations of Identity

John: I want to continue the thread from yesterday’s dream that pointed out the limitations we impose upon our selves, and our lives, when we cling to our personal identities. In doing so, we create the separation – the duality – that isolates and alienates us from our natural state of oneness.

The dream pointed out how we are constantly trying to normalize and balance ourselves. When we base our perspective in our ego life, thereby separating us from all that exists, we are in a state of imbalance. Our dreams, in fact all our natural human systems, then offer us an ongoing process to enable us to regain that lost balance.

When we perceive ourselves as separated from the whole of life, we become subject to the peaks and valleys of natural cycles – the ups and downs of living. Ideally, we should evolve through them in a state of vibrational balance where the ups and downs cause minimal disturbance.

Yet in our daily lives, and all our interactions with others, we can see and feel the effects of our imbalance as we watch people continually get thrown by their experiences. When we don’t go up and down with the energetic cycles, we actually minimize the disturbances, and instead experience an expansive insight, which is a much more natural state. We then are not subject to the confusion that prevents us from seeing objectively.

A spiritual journey requires us to resolve these imbalances, otherwise we get lost in them. When we look at the cycles of the planet or the universe, or even a local ecosystem, everything is constantly seeking a state of optimum balance – we humans are the same.

For us, the greater the disturbance and imbalance we experience, the more dense the fight (dense here to mean, ego-based and animal natured, rather than our much higher, light-filled human pedigree).

When we are calm, yet alert, energetically, our knowing is complete. It is our susceptibility to disturbances that lead to our emotional, mental, and spiritual confusion. In my dream I was shown that the greatest balance and clarity existed when an overall calm was carried within, in an attentive way (consciously). This touched life with joyousness.

As human beings we bring into life a differentiation that is misaligned from the wholeness. Therefore we seek the wholeness by means of counterbalancing ourselves vibrationally. For example, a person who is naturally speeded up and is an extrovert, seeks a relationship within the physical world of a softer and more introverted influence.

In other words, the objective is to recognize our energetic confusion, and to then integrate our selves into the harmony of the corresponding and counterbalancing opposites. This cannot be done effectively, however, until we allow ourselves to actually let go of our particular identity.

As long as we defend our separateness, we are influenced by our inner biases. These biases limit our experience, while at the same time cause an uneasiness in the heart (because they are not natural to us). Nevertheless, we seem to defend these limiting patterns in us out of fear of the annihilation that truly letting go would bring about. We may realize intellectually that it’s necessary to break free from the chains of our identity, but we’re afraid to let go of it because we think it keeps us alive – we think it is us. Thing clinging condemns us to a life of repetitive patterns and ongoing confusion felt in the heart.

In other words we feel the pain, the distance, the isolation – all as a reflection of the distance we are from our natural connections to creation. We think that we must belong to ourselves. So we hold onto our individualized separation and our (limited) idea of what is real.

Last night I was shown that our clarity increases as we let go of our separation identity and recognize that we are in a natural flow as life itself. We are not actually in competition or conflict with our environment, we are the environment. We are the essence of the outer physical world, which is realized initially as an inner reflection.

When the inner and outer truly merge, duality and conflict, which are ego-based, disintegrate, and with them, the illusion of our individuality. We then can experience the wholeness that is beyond the limitations of a physical duality.

It’s important to recognize that we must take the first step in the process of uniting inner and outer, by letting go of our need to energetically dramatize the disturbances. With a heartfelt appreciation, our horizon expands. When we are no longer upholding a belief system that fights against the wholeness of life, we can finally embrace life.

That’s the first step of our real journey back to god.

Lying to the Heart

John: Last night I had a series of images. In the first image, I’m listening to a talk show on the radio. The caller is sharing his opinion with the radio host; it turns out that the caller is my brother.

As I listen to his viewpoint, I realize that the opinion he is sharing is not really meaningful; his concern and level of understanding is grounded in the dense outer reality where everything appears as duality and separation. My brother is sharing a viewpoint that lies outside of the true reality where everything is integrated and complete.

He shares his opinion as if it will fix the problem. The radio host indicates that the government is making a change to alleviate the problem being identified. My brother accepts the statement as if it is truly meaningful – I can detect a sigh of relief as he says, “Okay.”

The feeling is that the two of them believe that this proposed change could actually alleviate the problem. As the listener, I know that both positions are absurd, because I know that wholeness cannot be achieved with a physical solution alone. To pretend or believe otherwise is lying to the heart.

What these images are showing is the confusion caused by identifying our reality with the vibration of the material world. It’s the curse of our collective consciousness that we settle for a world that offers no meaningful satisfaction to the true processes of life.

The images are suggesting that until people (my brother and the radio host) let go of their sense of separation, i.e., stop basing their world-view in their individual identities, there can never be meaningful solutions to our earthly problems.

Solutions based solely in the physical, where generally money is used to solve problems, are doomed to be short term band-aids because they aren’t taking into account the wholeness of life. When we view ourselves as separate from our environment, separate from the universe, and separate from each other, we are stuck in the densest, most ego-based, view of life.

From that perspective, we can only see solutions that satisfy our needs as separate beings and, in fact, further deepen our isolation from one another by continuing to perpetrate the fraud. To let go of that sense of personal separation we must go through a kind of self-annihilation that can remove the veils we have raised between us and what’s really going on. Then we can see what is truly important and embrace an experience wherein the heart touches all of life. That experience incorporates our higher self and unites us energetically with everything.

Only through our connections to our higher consciousness, inside, can we extricate ourselves from the denser reality we currently perceive. There, the heart is able to access the knowing guidance that we all have within. Until we make these inner connections, the guidance from the heart falls on deaf ears.
