John: I stayed up late last night because when I got back home there was a letter that needed my response. At some point, when it got really late, I began to think that this work could affect my sleep. But at the time, I thought doing it then would get it out of my system. It reminds me of your dream yesterday, which touched on this idea of not taking things so personally.
So I got caught up in the process of sending emails in response to this letter. What was really interesting is that while I was doing that, I was also thinking that the secret is to figure out how to conduct myself so that I’m not feeding an energetic animosity into what I’m doing, because I know that will embed itself into the physicality of things.
I thought handling the letter before bed had dispelled everything from my system, but I woke up still feeling it in my energetic. It just shows that when you carry a certain energetic or attitude, no matter how you carry it, you release it into the ethers of life.
A teacher used to describe how she would handle such situations. She could be fuming, but she always followed the rule that you don’t do anything that will upset another person. Instead she would flood them with a certain energetic, and then stand back and watch how the mirroring of that energy worked in them.
She said that you can reach a point where you look at yourself more or less through others, because in a sense you are no longer there (in a personal way). Then you can take and radiate this energetic outward and, instead of being caught up in the issue, a number of things can happen if the other person is receptive and responsive to it.
They can take on more light and glow, or it could also be a trigger that throws them around a bit. The average person releases a personal reaction because some part of their psychology has been swept up by the event. But this teacher knew she could not make progress that way.
Of course it requires the ability to be detached from the situation – to carry a perspective of a higher purpose. By her basically being absent from the situation, the other person can see, energetically, their own energy reflected back to them. That’s why it is compared to a mirror image of themselves.
Now what they see and feel of themselves might be good, or it might be too much for them to handle. People are not accustomed to a process like that, but at least what is being offered in that moment is a glimpse of the Divine, rather than personal involvement which can deepen the separation and agitation that people get caught up in.
The theory, and the point behind all of this, is to be able to realize this aspect of life, and to reach this quality inside oneself. Then, what a person radiates into the world energetically can change the quality of things little by little. They can cause an energy that has been on a certain track to be changed, rerouted so to speak. Then for the next 1000 years it is different from what it was because an aspect of the Divine has been pulled into it.
We aren’t going to be doing that if we don’t speed up. Speeding up has to do with getting outside of the density of our physical (material) view of the world, and the reactivity (personal involvement) that we carry into everything we do. It means we have to be able hold onto a higher energetic level. That, of course, is why we practice repetition, and meditation, and all of these tools that are meant to help us deepen our connection to something more – to a greater energetic.
One way of looking at it is that you aren’t even getting spiritual or anything, because this energy does not belong to you. But you just have this higher energy coming through you, and it comes through for the whole of life. You still, as an individual, have all of your own nuances and mannerisms that are ingrained from your life, but you somehow are able to step away from all of that and bring this higher energetic quality through anyway.
That is one of the most important aspects of being in service – changing the energy we put into the world. If, like most people, we impose our own personal feelings and emotional behaviors, then the situations we find ourselves in will stay exactly in the condition they are currently in.
If we, instead, bring this other quality through, it can change life, the way life is meant to be changed. That is what it’s like to really be in this process.
