As humans, we are the most sophisticated creature on this planet but, in terms of our universal role, we are just babies learning how to operate the systems we have been given. And that’s important to understand for our life here, because we should never lose a sense of openness, wonder, and awe for what we have been born into. It isn’t so much what we experience in this life, it’s a matter of how consciously we experience it. Jeane: In the second dream, something happens that I get up and I go to the bathroom, and when I come back to the bed, I realize that whatever the noise or discomfort was, you point out I‘ve given birth to this tiny little baby. We look under the covers and there’s this baby. It’s only about five, six inches long. Little boy. Just really tiny.
So, you pick it up and show it how to nurse. So I nurse the baby, but then the baby grows by these leaps and bounds. I mean one minute you look at it, it’s six inches big, and the next thing it’s practically a toddler, and then it’s practically like can stand next to the bed. And I know that I have some concerns about how fast this baby grows in terms of how it’s going to be received when it goes off to school. It’s not obviously behaving like other children.
And it feels like I have that dream twice, and then the baby doesn’t seem to be there, but a man who is an artist, has come into our bedroom. He’s taken a sphere, a glass sphere, that’s about the size of a beach ball from the right side of the room. And he’s moved it over close to the door. And then as he’s moved it with his hands, he’s kind of caused the glass to change and alter into a kind of semi-sphere that’s an art shape now. It’s got crinkled glass and stuff.
So now it’s an art piece rather than just a plain glass ball. And he set it down, you know, near the door. And it’s interesting, but I know I’m concerned about it because it’s just made out of glass, you know, that it might be pretty fragile. That’s all I remember of that dream and then I lost the last dream.
John: The dream is pointing out something that is a type of access to a more innocent side of yourself, like the childhood side of yourself, as a way of denoting that something isn’t meant to be so serious. And isn’t as serious as one makes it out in their adult mannerism way. But rather than direct your attention in that regard, it just directs your attention in terms of something on the side, that is part of a makeup of your being that you come to know.
You then notice you have concerns about that in relationship to the adult side that tries to see how something needs to be this and that, like what is he going to be like if he goes to school and whatnot? But the important thing was the acknowledgement and permission to access in this particular quality way, that aspect that is inside of yourself that has been suppressed or has created some sort of burden, because it hasn’t been allowed to be. Or it hasn’t existed and run through itself as a process.
And when that is able to be reached, what it does is it opens up and you see something glass and something different, right? It gives you access to whatever that is, that is useful for some particular purpose or reason that touches you, in some particular way, that is meaningful to you in some fashion. That access is only possible if you drop a certain kind of overindulgence sophistication about yourself.
In other words, this is a dream in which you actually have a relinquishing or letting go of something that you’re holding onto, a release of it, that you naturally release because it’s a burden upon you. Instead of reacting to the outer conditions, as if the outer conditions are to blame, and you relinquish something in terms of that way of being and fall back into accessing a part of yourself that is whole and at peace with what is unfolding.
And, in that, you find the greater quality of how it is that you’re meant to be. In other words, you can’t catch up with that without this other part of yourself waking or being accessed vibrationally. And when you do, what then naturally emerges is something entirely different, that you’re able to access that has some meaning and importance that isn’t defined in the dream.
But it’s interesting, whatever it is that you see, it’s like an oracle kind of thing. I would guess if I was to take a wild guess at it, it’s something that could be used in an oracle kind of way. But in order to do that, you have to find and access a part of yourself that isn’t worried and conditioned and feeling this way or that way. You have to be at home with that: the childhood side of yourself has those answers that are naturally there, that somehow got lost in terms of now that when one’s an adult they become too much, too serious, or too sophisticated, and alienated themselves from that.
Hazrat Inayat Khan talks about this quality, about how so much is lost when a person doesn’t go through what is necessary in terms of a kind of happiness and peace that a child has when it’s just open and receptive to everything that exists in its environment around it, and is able to grow up without those cares on his shoulders, that that provides a basis and a mannerism and a quality to the fabric of a human being, so that when they then come into adolescence and adulthood and such, that they never quite lose track of this trait, this mannerism, that is important.
And those who aren’t able to access that, you know, have problems in all of the stages of their life, and that each stage of one’s life is important in terms of a progress of unfoldment of the human being. He points out in his book, where an adolescent will act like a child, all the way to what a person, when they’re older, how they will tend to act, not having caught up then with the culmination of all of that, which is a type of wisdom that is natural to a human being’s progression, that is important, that reaches and comes through at that particular stage of one’s life. And it’s interesting that he places such huge importance on the beginning stage.
It’s a latent inner kind of wisdom that goes beyond the limitations to a certain degree of the physical nature. And so it falls more in the lines of what’s meant to be. As opposed to the holding on and creating the limitations that are created on a physical level where the attention is placed upon that.
