On a Rocket Ship

il_falThe strangeness of new, inner territories opening up can make for some interesting dream images. Here we see a rocket ship take off, yet very quickly concerns arise: there are aliens, the aliens are unfriendly, we may never return home! This whole sequence is a way for the dreamer to have an inner dialogue, from one inner aspect to another, in a sense saying, yes, this is great, but let’s not get carried away by it. On our spiritual journey, there is always a need to add grounding to our developments. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: Well, I wish I could remember more details of my first dream, but somehow in this first dream, there are several of us that get taken up in a spaceship. And as the spaceship starts traveling out there and we begin to explore our surroundings within the spaceship, and the other people in the spaceship, we realize some of them are somewhat alien – and not always friendly. You might think you’re all together in the spaceship and that you’re going to work together, but some of them may actually be trying to take you apart or something. It’s like you have to be rather careful.

And then what’s even worse than that is after a while, I begin to realize that I don’t know any way that we’re going to be able to get back. It seems like the spaceship is just going to be going forward in space. I don’t think we’re ever going to get back. Anyway, that’s the gist of it.

John: It’s a fairly straightforward description of a process and a fear. In other words, it is said that on the spiritual path that, if you were looking at it from a Hindu description, you’re climbing the chakras, which means that you’re getting more and more conscious. You’re extricating more of yourself out of the prison that you’re in, in terms of outer conditioning. And that can be like a spaceship that’s taking off, that you don’t know where it’s going, and in a roundabout way, you have no control over when it’s invoked, or is in process.

But what the dream also indicates is that you seem to know that it’s not a one-way trip, either. In other words, you don’t just blast off. You have to be grounded. You have to come back. You have to be in life.

So you’re wondering, how is it possible for you to get blown away by something in the inner and still, by the enamoring and the way that that can sweep you up, and still find your way back into something that is condensed and dense as in the outer.

It’s an interesting, like I say, fear. In other words, recognizing a process, and then it’s an interesting knee-jerk reaction to that process of being swept away, knowing that you have to be in life as well.
