In Negotiation

69-alphaNegotiation is a huge part of our daily interaction – with others and with ourselves. And that implies that we have an outcome in mind, or can foresee the direction that we want things to go. And we are always trying to turn things in our favor – to make them more to our liking. But, of course, the universe doesn’t work that way, and letting go doesn’t work that way, and being in the flow is not that way. So negotiation is a sign that we are not letting go to the flow of the universe – we still have resistance to where it is going. Jeane: In the dream that I remember I’m going to be flying to England, but I have to take a bus to the airport. It feels like there’s different buses that run at different times, so I take an early bus but I take that bus because I want to stop along the way and do some things.

So when the bus is stopped, and maybe other people are having lunch, I go out and I know that there’s a Native American store in this little place where it stops. Maybe I want to go there and get a feather or something. But the difficulty I have is the timing. If I go and go to the store, then maybe the people will leave on the bus, so I might have to get somebody to watch my bag, or take it, or something because I really want to do that, but then will I get the timing to catch the bus again? Or will I have to find a later bus that will be coming by and going to the airport, too?

So it feels like I’m struggling with working out the timing but it seems important to me to make that stop to go to the Native American store or gallery or whatever it was. I think I wanted a feather.

John: So what you’re doing is you’re working on the pace, in other words, the degree to which something goes faster or slower.

In an emptiness it just is, but when there’s still kind of a signature note or presence about one’s self, then there are differentiations. And the differentiations grab your attention so that it’s like a type of negotiating, you know, where you’re trying to identify this a little, in relationship to that. And this is a dilemma in the expansion/contraction energies because in expansion/contraction energy there is the predominate sensation of there being a pace and, therefore, a quality of time.

And if you’re able to let go of the need to direct or steer something, you know, which comes about as a consequence of being and having to always sift with expansion and contraction, as opposed to just letting go of all gravity of things, and being in the stillness or empty space of it all, but as long as there still is that aspect that’s going on inside of one’s self, you’re constantly having to contend with the differentiations.

And the contending with that involves having to get the dynamic down according to your predilection, which is a type of negotiating. And so you’re always dealing then with time and speed as defining forces in which you’re identifying things.

Timing and speed actually kind of work different in terms of sensation. People who are more concerned about timing tend to be more involved in some definitional attachment of themselves that’s louder. And a person who is contending with speed is actually taking a bit more of a step in terms of trying to let go of the involvement of things. In other words, they are learning how to recognize the distinctions because different levels of speed affect different levels of sight. And you’re coming to note the difference as this being more of a quality towards opening up.

So when you’re contending with time, and especially when you’re contending with it from the standpoint that you’re constantly making decisions in relationship to definitions that has to do with what you feel is important or that you have to do, those decisions that take you from being able to hear, or to go still, or to stop is, in one way of looking at consciousness, would be considered as a kind of traveling away from God.

And the working with elements of speed, in which you’re coming to notice the distinctions of things and how different flows affect how you sensate, or feel, about things in terms of sight and perception is more in the genre of traveling towards God. But both of those, both of those, are still elements that are outside of the stillness. See, that’s an interesting dream. See, that’s a dream that shows what you’re working on.

Raw Energy

e334r2When things are young, they’re not fully conscious, they’re not completely coordinated, and they’re not fully in control of themselves. This runs through all of life, and it is equally true for new aspects within us that are recently connected to or awakened. There will be an awkward phase as we make adjustments to the “new addition” in our lives. Children or young people in dreams speak about a new life or growth in the dreamer, and it requires patience and nurturing to gain its strength.

Jeane: I just remember some of the dream I was having as I woke up, and in this there’s a little kid, like a toddler, he’s still a baby. He has something going on. He’s kind of a rascally kid, too, but I seem to be able to establish a rapport with him and I’ve taken him to the hospital.

And this nurse and I, it feels like we’ve finally gotten him to release, maybe I used a little hypnosis to do it, too, or talking to him or something. After that happens, then it feels like he has this big release in his diaper, which is what needed to happen, so we get him cleaned up. But now because all of that’s released he has to go home.

Now she and I have some reservations. It’s not like he’s going back to the best of homes. But I realize I can’t keep him, even though he’d want to stay with me, but the best I can think to do is to take this really long route back home. And I take the nurse and him with me, and it’s kind of a fun drive where you get to go around a way, and down a way, and at first she thinks I’m not even taking him home. And I said, “No, this is just… I know his father actually lives somewhere near the end of this route.” Because I realize I can’t actually keep him, and maybe if he’s just having fun with the process it won’t be such a jolt to go back into the home. It’s like the best I can figure out to do.

John: That’s actually a very deep dream. It starts off with the raw side, you know that there’s something about this 1-year-old or whatever that’s going to be a bit of a handful to handle. And it’s just the way he’s designed, and you have to let go to that and what he does is just part of the flow. It’s not like he is doing this consciously, even.

In other words, it’s just part of him being how he needs to be, and you can’t cringe over that. You have to accept that. You have to accept both the raw energy part of him, as well as the part that as you could say is sick or unconscious. And you would like it to be better, you would like everything to be fixed, but all in good time.

In other words, it’s like you may feel that things should be better, and would like to make things better, but you can’t impose this in some sort of expedient way. It’s going to take time, so you have to accept the fact that you have to be patient and maybe drag this thing out over an extended period of time. It’s a little frustrating that it has to be that way because you would like to shake this loose, and shake this free, more quickly, more abruptly, but you kind of know that if you do try to do it too abruptly, that it’s not allowed, it won’t work that way, it’ll cause another problem to happen, it will break the connection – as feeble as it is – that you have, so you go at this very slowly and very gradually in terms of a process.

This is a dream that’s telling the story of yourself. It’s explaining where you’re at, and how you need to relate and be, in relationship to yourself. In other words, you have a certain nature, a raw energy nature, that is actually even in a way kind of cute and humorous. You’re not really responsible for having to be that way. You’re one year old. I mean, you know, who could say that you are to be blamed for being how it is that you are. And then along with that you’ve come in with your inherited illness that causes all of this sort of stuff that you do unconsciously. Who can blame you for that?

All that can happen is that there is the recognition that this can awaken, that you can awaken, and that there is an intent from some place deep inside for this to happen and, yes, there can be some impatience in terms of this, and if it is too overt or too direct it’s going to be too much for you. It’s going to tear something down. So it doesn’t want that to happen, a catastrophe or a break where there’s a disconnect. It has to go at this thing with a lot of carefulness and graciousness, not quickly, extending it out over a period of time, being able to spend time that way knowing that this isn’t getting the job done in the expedient way that it would like to get it done, but it’s as good as it gets.

That’s an interesting dream, isn’t it? Isn’t that a deep dream? It’s not a dream that says, okay, this is how I see myself. It’s kind of a dream that’s like, this is how I’m seen somewhere in terms of like a higher being of self, of which the part of you that’s in life has a lot to shake out yet.

Seeking You

what-arngWhat does it tell us about life that our dreams are always trying to help us – in an impartial way? They don’t scold us, or punish us – the images are neutral to the subject, it is our reactions that we experience – but they do show us where we are and what we are wrestling with inside. It implies that there is some reference point that we are seen as being close to or far away from. And that reference point may have to do with our human possibility and purpose. Our inner life may know more about us than we consciously do. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: In the next dream, I’m actually living in the airport, and it feels like I go out into life and come back to the airport a lot. I’m living in the airport with a number of other people.

And then there’s a point when it feels like we’re going to have some downtime, and I’m kind of observing what different people want to do. And I’ve gone out at one point and I realized I wanted to go across kind of a chasm, and there is a railroad track to my right that goes across, like a railroad bridge. And then where I am I could actually take a board that goes down into the chasm and kind of ride it, almost like a swing, to the other side and then it will swing back. You know, it sways to one side and the other.

But I realize it’s so far across that, although I could do it, I even have the sense I’ve done it before, it isn’t really the wisest way for other people to get across that space. So I kind of drop that idea, and then I have several men that seem to want to go spend some time with me; they’re going to take me out with their car because we have this downtime.

And then I’m observing one man who actually wants to go hang glide, and I’m telling him a place to go hang glide off Nova Scotia where it feels like I even know people who’ve done it in the past, or there was a point in time when I could do it. And then although I’m going to go out with someone later, it feels like I’ve taken someone else’s car for a minute and want to go down to a spot, but it’s a pickup.

When I get into it I don’t have a key, but I seem to be able to get it to start anyway. Then I go down the road and I kind of go down a hill at one point to almost like a picnic area, and I want to turn around and come back because I have a date for later, but I can’t get the pickup to run anymore, but I do get back somehow. I don’t know if I get back with the pickup.

Now that I’m back, and I have a date in awhile, I start talking to a couple of women in the house because I notice I have this problem with the heels of my feet, and the heels have suddenly become like a lot of little layers of skin that have become completely mushy. And I can even pull off one layer and underneath it it’s going to be very mushy, but I realize this is a condition that actually has a name, and one of the other people in the house that hasn’t left yet, or in the airport, is a nurse, and because it’s a condition that has a name I know I can kind of go to the nurse and probably figure out how to fix it but I have to go do that before I can go out on my date.

So I’m going off to find the nurse and I think that’s when I woke up.

John: So the best way to understand this dream is to look at the saying, that one of the definitions of God is: God exists between the perineum and the heart.

And so what you’re using for your in-between condition is living at the airport. And so when you then go out of the airport, initially you can take a little light with you and start a vehicle. But then that light quickly dissipates when you go away from yourself into the outer, and then the vehicle won’t run anymore.

And so you’re finding yourself… you have your notions as to what it is that is drawing your attention in the outer, but you’re meant to be at this in-between zone at the airport. And when you sit in this in-between zone, when you’re able to be in this in-between zone, you instead of mixing it up in life and getting involved in the activities of this, that, or the other kind of in this no man’s land, actually not really existing. You’re not able to actually exist in terms of a persona. You have to invisiblize yourself, or become empty.

When you’re able to do that you find something of value. You come back to this because there’s something of value there, and you’re not meant to go wandering off trying to do this, that, or the other. Your feet aren’t designed for that. I mean, yes, they’re designed to be caught in the illusion of wandering around in the outer, but just like you lose your light, that breaks down doesn’t it? Things break down for you, and you come back to this zone in order to get healed up again.

It’s an unusual dream in that you have to now put this together in relationship to the other dream. In the second dream you’re kind of like using the airport scenario as this emptiness place. In the prior dream you’re using the scenario between the airport and the airplane as the emptiness place. So when you put the two together, the zone between the plane and the actual airport is the place where you need to hold onto an invisibleness, or an emptiness, so that you’re not seen in some capacity that affects the well being of anyone, so they actually then have no problem looking at something about you, and seeing something about your light that they like, and you’re not going around trying to make the light glow because you’ve taken yourself out of the equation. You’re not pushing anything.

And so they then can easily come across and, to the degree to which there’s something about you that affects or touches them, to the degree that there is somehow a reflective process, that process, that quality, that aspect is really said as they being able to be in your heart. And that the experience is not one of trying to perceive outwardly, but the experience is one to reach a point where someone can actually be in your heart. You are such a non-threat or factor that they can abide in that, in terms of themselves, and that is what causes a coming to know something to happen.

But then you’re in the airport, and so in the airport you’re kind of on the cusp of this deeper awareness. And then in the airport where you’re coming and going and beating yourself up, tearing your feet apart, tearing your feet up, kind of knowing it doesn’t work that way, but not completely – as opposed to on the tarmac where your focus and attention is on avoiding the process of having to be something in terms of acceptance and relatability.

So the importance of the dream is to understand where this quality that flickers around in you is aiming at and coming from. So when you go around and you feel that deep down you really don’t want to relate to this, or get involved in that, and you want to feel more alone, where is that space coming from? That’s a vibration. That vibration is kind of coming from the fact that you know that what is best is when you don’t have to act out in any capacity one way or another. You don’t have to be on cue, because that is not what I’m about; I need a greater quietness, a greater silence.

For you to see yourself like that means that you’re going to be immediately exhausted and drained and confused and out of touch with yourself. So when you feel that kind of quality of a vibration inside of yourself, it is like a tuning fork inside of yourself. It’s like an echo of something seeking you, trying to access, trying to reach you. It’s like a quality, it’s like a hint in terms of how to be.

So that’s the importance of a dream like that is it tunes you in to kind of the energetic vibration that makes more sense than the vibration that’s always looking outward and trying to feel itself in relationship to the outer. That’s quite a dream. Gosh, it’s amazing that these dreams can be like this.
