Notes to Self

woman aloneWhen we struggle, we often like to talk things through with our friends and family – to get the advice of those we trust, but also to get a different perspective from our own. Our dreams allow this same process, offering us advice on very specific aspects and threads in our life. In this dream, Jeane gives advice, to another part of herself, about a relationship. But the relationship is with an inner energetic that wants to be set free. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: Yes, I actually have like three other little dreams there, and they all felt linked together to me, like one felt sequentially to the other.

So, in the next dream, having left French Canada, I’m kind of on the road, and I come to this small town. And immediately there’s some kind of eye contact or something, with a man, that I make that, you know, we’re attracted, we want to be together, but he’s in a relationship. And he hasn’t separated himself from that relationship yet – although he wants to.

And it feels like I’m kind of going back, and forth, and I go into a building. And when I’m in that building, rather than him come, the woman he’s in a relationship with comes. And because she comes, I’m writing down on a piece of paper things that one can do that improve a relationship – which she can take. If he’d come first, I might have done something different, but she’s come before he has.

And then it feels like I leave that place, and the dream kind of shifts to a different tone.

John: So in terms of trying to catch up with what it is that is hidden, whenever there is something that’s an imbalance in one’s nature, the outer world sets up – because we live in an expansive and contractive capacity, and within the parameters of a type of gravity – there is a magnetism that is set up to try to break through the complex of things.

You see this all the time in terms of relationships, where a person will be attracted to another person that carries a kind of an opposite quality, or something, that somehow or another is a blind side in terms of their nature. And, generally, what they carry is a blind side to that person’s nature.

And so you get into this kind of correspondence that can create a magnetism that pulls them together. However, because neither is really directly facing the complex, per se, there is an attempt to make a projection handoff. And in times when this coming together creates a different kind of resonance cohesion, in terms of the outer life, and that comes out, or is reached, or is touched, you can have the most horrendous of complex reactions that show that what is not being faced is so, so, so traumatic.

Well you, somehow, in other words I’m describing the dynamic, but you understand the dynamic. In this dream you actually understand the dynamic, because what you are doing is you are, so to speak, looking and talking to yourself in a way, in other words because it’s another woman, it’s not something estranged as the opposite. You were looking at another woman, or basically looking at yourself, and you’re able to counsel yourself in terms of how it is that you need to be in order to make this sort of awakening more conducive.

In other words, psychologically, you could say, find a balance or harmoniousness instead of it being something that is so traumatically over the top that you have to repress it to keep from cracking up. So that’s very interesting. That’s quite a step right there.

The Inner Push

im908In our waking life, we have perspective on whatever we are open to, or allow, or invite into our thought processes. Some of that comes from our unconscious. But our unconscious sees the everything that we are doing, and can show us that greater perspective through our dreams. We may have repressed aspects of our life that we have never been able to resolve, but our dreams can give us a neutral way to help sort them out. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: So, in my first dream, I seem to be living in French Canada, and I live a little ways out from a larger city, in a trailer that belongs to someone else. It’s kind of a sweet little trailer, I like it. And I go back and forth between there and town, sometimes.

But there’s a day when I realize that I’m going to have to move because the trailer, which just belongs to someone else anyway, is out of food. And, because it’s French Canada, there’s a woman that’s a friend of mine there, but I don’t really know many people and I don’t know how to get a job there. So I realize I’m going to have to move on. That was like the first dream.

John: So what you’re dealing with is you’re dealing with a type of displacement. In other words, you have a quality of yourself that is not able to come truly, totally, into its own because somehow or another you find yourself as being displaced. And, in this displacement, like you say you’re in a trailer, you are in an unusual place in the countryside in Canada, and that you are away from the city, and you are out of food – all images of a displacement.

Now, what’s the deeper meaning of being able to look at yourself as having this particular, we’ll call it, kind of predicament? It’s to point out that there is something, in terms of a greater overallness of yourself, that is repressed, that is unconscious, that is hidden.

Whenever a person has some greater part of themselves repressed, unconscious, and whatnot, that keeps them looking at situations in which there is a type of displacement, or alienation, or not able to quite be where they need to be, or having something deleterious in terms of their environment – amnesic, even – it’s because who they really are, in terms of a totality, is concealed from them based upon a veil.

And the veil is a veil that is there that is repressed, that is unconscious, that’s traumatic in some sense, and that’s why it got repressed, and unconscious, because it couldn’t be handled in the totality of your being. And it has to come out, and it has to be caught up with, and you have to bring closure to it in order for there to be a fullness of who it is that you really are on all the different levels of yourself.

And, in this particular dream, the other thing that’s interesting about a displacement, in which you have these component parts that are all over the place, apart: I mean out of food, in a trailer which is temporary, in a foreign area, something that you can’t properly fully relate to, which means it’s a little amnesic because it’s French Canada, separate from a city where others are at – all of those little bits and pieces all point to the need to reach, or catch up with, something more that is sitting in your nature.

Now the interesting thing about what sits in your nature is it pushes you in some capacity, but it pushes you mostly from an unconscious level. So you can find yourself being a particular way in the outer – and not knowing why it is that you are a particular way in the outer – that if you were able to get to the bottom of would point back to something that you were hiding, or holding, in a repressed condition because it’s too much for you to face.

Now all of this is occurring on the in-breath, and what is needed to kind of pull it all together is a sequenciation of time that can come into the equation. In other words, a linkage, like a thread, just like a ley line or a thread that links the food, the trailer, the French Canada, the city, that links it all together. That’s like a timing that pulls the spaciality together.

And, in your dream, you don’t have that, so you have this discombobulation, and this alienation, from a deeper quality of yourself. Now what also is interesting, when you carry something like that, or have something like that, is that there is a way of looking, and seeing, and, if something is meant to come out and isn’t coming out, it can have a fairly deleterious effect upon your outer beingness, too, as it is trying to break through a veil, or a window.

A Deeper Experience

3edesYes, we are always processing energy. And, even at night, we process energy. And that cleaning, clearing, storing, and sorting effort is part of our dream process. It’s the same as keeping nutrients for the body when we eat food, and expelling what has no future use. Energy is also a food for us, and we want to keep our systems as clear as possible for what comes tomorrow. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

John: In my meditation dream, I notice that when there is a reflective imbalance, the mirror affects that imbalance – not the opposite condition of a letting go, or a stillness.

An imbalance is always based upon some sort of way that you took something in, in a kind of identification or reactive way. And it’s in the counterbalance, where there is no reaction, is where the stillness is at. In other words, we’re talking about a stillness that is maintainable, not a stillness that you go into that is a type of suspense – where there is still something that has to come to the fore.

So, to understand my meditation dream, I’m trying to figure out how to explain this in the outer, because in the outer there is always something going on. And I’m finding that I’m not sure how to do this, because whenever anything is going on, to say that, affects the peace and quiet instead of a mirrored essence that is able to emanate, because, deep down, there is no understanding in manifestation that isn’t oriented to the senses.

So, in my sleep dream, I’m looking at an energetic nature being able to become awoken to a part of itself in a new way, meaning a part of itself that isn’t in its usual pattern. In other words familiarity, or zone, in which it has a comfort zone in terms of how it’s able to come across.

So I notice that there was an inability to let go to a deeper inner experience within when there was an energetic that affects one’s attention in the outer. And your attention can be affected just by the nature of what’s going on in the outer, whatever it might be. You could have a particular thing that sets it off by what you read in the paper, you can have something that sets it off just in a particular atmosphere, whatever it is that you find yourself contending with in the atmosphere, whatever it is, leads to an inability to let go to the deeper inner experience within.

And, when you let go to the deeper experience within, as was the theme of the dreaming last night, you can let go to a place where there’s nothing going on. And so if there’s something going on, you can dream, but if you can do it so that there’s nothing that you buy into that is going on, then you don’t have to dream.

So, in my dream, I observe various scenes in which whatever was expected to be in a scenario was removed, such that, and so that, a deeper inner awareness was made possible. Often this looked a bit insipid and lifeless, but from a letting go comes an inner awareness rising up – as if from the ashes.

For this to happen, however, the letting go of projections – projections affect the way you see yourself and the way others see you – you have to let go of that, and it seems that from an emptiness resulting from being able to let go of a profile, is when a person is able, is when I’m able to be more real in an inner way. You have freedom, in other words. Any kind of having to be something, or to come across in a particular way or something, anything like that affects the depth of how you’re able to be in an inner capacity way.

And so, again, the theme of the dreaming was to not have a profile or projection, per se, in which an identification predominates over a deeper realness within. This is a difficult theme because in my dreams, in the past, there is always something going on that I can report, or that I can denote, that one is obviously able to put their finger on, or play with, relate to, or be agitated in or by – in order for there to be action.

So it’s important to be able to recognize how it’s possible to maintain a space in which there is this inner potentiality able to be there as it’s meant to be. And so if a person is watching and listening to themselves, they don’t have to whip themselves into having to sustain or maintain a particular demeanor. We have all of this going on in the outer, upon us, to the degree to which we buy into it in some fashion. And we’re meant to be able to be aloof from it all.
