Behind It All

It has been said that if you want to create a change in your life, make a space for it to happen. That can mean many different things depending on what you want to achieve, but it might mean allowing a little time each day for something that feeds you energetically, or spending less time online or in front of the TV, or it could mean taking a regular walk around the neighborhood. Our inner lives need the same care and opportunity: when we let go of the past, or gently put down a defense mechanism, we make space for new possibilities to fill the cleared area. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: In my second dream, it feels like I’m renting a space that feels like it must be on the ground level of a building. And it’s two rooms with white walls and large cupboards with clothes and things in them.

And I’m suddenly realizing that I really need to take everything out of all the closets and cupboards. Not only reorganize that, but I need to repaint the room. I’m just going to repaint it white.

Well, either you, or some man, comes in at one point to help me with this process, but then he kind of realized quickly that, or we both realize it, he can’t really do it. I really need to do it because other people don’t quite understand what I’m doing, in terms of either the sorting and reorganizing that I need to do because the cupboards have become a little stuffed, or the painting and how I need to get it done.

So I just realized that I’m going to have to do it. I mean it doesn’t bother me that much, I just feel like that’s the way it will get done right. And that was the dream.

John: That whole action has a higher meaning behind it. The lower aspect is that it can be perceived, in a lower-self way, as a doingness that just goes around and around and around and around, where you never do catch up with anything because you’re caught in diffusing your energy through the doingness.

But that is not what you’re dreaming, you’re dreaming the higher energy of that. And in the higher energy of that you’re making the space empty, so that the sense that you carry inside of yourself to a knowingness that is seeking to emerge is more readily, you know, where you’ve moved aside then the nuances and the mannerisms and whatever that bugs you and bothers you, and kind of keeps you from quite letting go, where you’ve moved all of that aside.

Now in the lower self, the moving of all of this and the attempting to do all of this never, ever, ends. But, in what you’re doing here, you’re on the scent of what this is about. The other is kind of driven in a neurosis manner inside yourself that still has the bewilderment. But this has a sense, latent somewhere behind it, that is impelling this to occur.

And you know that, and recognize that, and are not impacted or counter-influenced by the fact that others don’t understand, because other parts of yourself, or the others in the world, look at this sort of thing – they don’t know what to make out of it. But you know what to make out of it because you feel something behind it all. And that’s what’s deemed important in terms of you catching up with the knowingness that’s behind it all.
