Jeane: There were three dreams last night, and I will have to see if the middle one comes back.
The first dream is more like a very brief scene: I work for an agency that’s either governmental or does business with the government. We send a lot of information back and forth by courier, in briefcases.
What’s changed is that now with the Internet, and electronic methods of sending information, we don’t have to send everything that way. This means that we’re not at the mercy of the people that used to charge us a lot of money to use their couriers.
We still have to send a certain amount of things the old fashioned way – in briefcases back and forth – but the Internet has freed us up to have more power or options and not be at the mercy of that one company.
John: What you’re describing is a certain type of access – you’re describing a process. When I went to sleep the question I was asking was about the processes of a spiritual life. It concerned the idea of “waking up,” and “Is this a destiny that’s meant for everyone?”
What seemed to want to come through wasn’t a “yes” or “no” answer, but rather a look at the various aspects of the process of how one does wake up in terms of the spiritual light. What I saw was the sense of, “Yes, it’s for everyone, but only in due time.”
So it’s interesting that your dream seems to have jumped in on that, because what you’re describing are further steps of the process. In other words, we all have lower- and higher-self aspects, and during our waking life and our dreaming life, part of us is always going back and forth between the two.
It’s like the in-breath and the out-breath goes back and forth, first traveling to a point where you “find a home” on the in-breath, and then you travel all the way down to a state of longing on the out-breath. That process is described by your courier going back and forth.
In your dream, it feels like a struggle with the courier because of the slowness and the expense. It’s a little awkward. Yet part of you realizes that there’s something more that has awakened inside of you, because what the courier is carrying back and forth is important – it’s part of a necessary process.
But then we see how that evolves, and you find you have a new type of access that is much faster and economical, shown by the use of the Internet. This is a much more instantaneous connection. So rather than the laborious nature of a courier, as a means of traveling between your higher and lower self, you’ve reached a place where there’s an instantaneous knowing (the Internet).
So that’s a big step forward from the the clumsiness of traveling by foot, which is the clumsiness of our lower self – of our ego-based (non-spiritual) life. That’s what we are all at the mercy of until we wake up. So as a process, with the courier you discovered that communication between the higher and lower was important, and then you made the next step, moving out of your ego-based life onto a spiritual path, and that has given you faster access and greater knowing.
Until one awakens to the idea that there is much more to available to us if we choose it consciously, the back and forth action is lost in the noise of an ego-based life focus. So there is even an earlier point where we have to consciously choose to aim our life toward the universal, rather than the personal.
Your dream shows you’ve made it through the stage of consciously choosing, and you have entered a different zone, and from there you can begin to make greater and greater connection to the guidance of your higher self.
In the example of Internet access, you’re shown how everything in the universe is linked together. You’ve reached a point where you can see that your light is the light of the whole.
