tu280Here’s the thing: we no longer live in a world that we can compartmentalize. We can no longer avoid what is happening around us, or keep ourselves protected from it – like we used to, by building borders, walls, and fences. All of our protections now need to live inside us, in the form of what we will or won’t allow, and in terms of our principles and values. Which means it’s important to have a higher purpose, because it is above everything else that is man-made, and that will give us the guidance we need to get us through whatever we may have to face. Jeane: In my first dream, I’ve just joined a group of friends who are spies. I’m also a spy, like I’ve gone over to the house where they all are. We’re kind of like… I don’t know, we look like we’re in our 30s, maybe, and they have a mission for us to go on.

And I’m kind of joking around because I know when we go on our mission, where I’ll be a spy, that I can be effective because when I go with this one man that’s my partner I just really dumb down, you know, in terms of appearances, and that’s how I can get the most information being a spy. So that’s the first dream.

John: So what the dream is indicating is that you’re in a situation in which you are unable to cope with what is going on. In other words, you’re meant to catch up with what is there. In other words, you’re kind of like a spy, but you are shown, by this dream, that the only way that this is going to work, because anything that you are apt to do is apt to expose you, or create a problem, is you have to dumb down, which is another way of saying that you have to let go of however it is that you carry yourself in order to be able to be in that scenario.

Jeane: Then I have a brief dream where it feels like I’m going to be sent out as a spy on another mission, but what I realize is that usually when I’m sent out as a spy we go out of town, we travel some distance to where we spy on our assignments.

But this time they want me to spy right at the town where we are, and I don’t know how that’s going to work. But the guy who’s in charge says he’s going to disguise me as though I’m Japanese; and I’m just not sure this is going to work. I’m not sure it works if you try to spy right in your own town.

John: And so what you’re shown here is that, from the first dream, you’ve learned that you have to just let go because you’re not able to function under any predilection of your own, in a given scenario, because it’s too complex for you to be able to contend with. So, in order to properly handle that, you have to, so to speak, disappear yourself, and then you can somehow catch up with whatever the action is.

In the second dream, you’re shown that this is something that is occurring in the here and now, in the moment, and it is not something that you have a choice in in terms of it being over here or over there, which is kind of a transcendent way of looking at things – and in terms of being with things as well.

In other words, in the past you were able to take and dismiss things that affected you as being something that is over in this category, or over in that category, in other words, always somewhere else, or some other part of life that you’re not having to bring into the here and now. And in the past it was always something like that. And, of course, in the past we didn’t live in an intertwined world in which there is the, as the statement was saying, we weren’t living at that time, in what is now the internet of everything.

But the better way of saying it is: the inner net of everything. And in this inner net of everything you’re bombarded with information. In other words, they’re pointing out that a baby born today has to access, at the moment of birth, basically, a data stream of a lifetime all in one fell swoop at the beginning. Or that a person living today has to go through more than what a person went through in a lifetime back in the 1500s.

In other words, it’s the inner net of everything. And so what this dream is saying is that this condition, what is taking place, is in the here and now. It’s not something that you can dismiss in some sort of transcendent way. It’s not like the be all of things is somewhere else, always somewhere else, always outside of one’s self. It is right in the here and now and has to be dealt with now. You have no choice in the matter.

Jeane: Then I have a brief dream where it feels like I’ve driven, and I have this white convertible. It’s an older one, a big white convertible. And I’m visiting some friends and family, and my nephew from California is there.

And I notice that when he wants to help out, like he thinks maybe there’s something that needs to be fixed on the car, he’s just so exuberant in a way that he flips the car over to look at the underside of it, to fix it.

And I’m kind of like, oh no, you know. I think I get someone to take him in to take a nap, but I go in the room to retrieve some clothing from that room and it’s like he hops up. It’s like I’m trying to do something to help, but see that I need to get him to mellow out in some way. He just is kind of overly exuberant with anything he wants to do. And then I’m trying to figure out does a nap do it, does this do it, does that do it, can I help him kind of even out a bit?

John: So this is actually a dream now that takes those first two variables and is telling you that in order to handle that, in order to be in a world that is like this now, that you have to chill out, that you have to somehow or another take a step back, you have to let go in some fashion with yourself, that the way that you are and everything is keeping you spun out and, therefore, over the top – so that there’s no way that you can actually grasp what is important, and what is necessary.

So, in that sense, you might say that this is a personal dream, but it’s an interesting personal dream because it’s personal in the context of what you’re having to confront, and are going to have to deal with, in terms of what is unfolding at this point in time. And, in order to do that, you have to chill out, you have to take a step back, you have to let go, you can’t keep spiraling in the way that you’re spiraling or you’ll never get it, you’ll always be in a state of bewilderment – and probably worse than bewilderment.

chal28Here is a series of dreams that show how the process of multiple dreams, in the course of one night, can work – even if you only remember fragments. The first glimpse implies activity, and when we are too active, or too personally involved in life in the outer, we become disconnected from our inner guidance. The second glimpse shows that inability to connect, to commit, in the form of an engagement ring. And, finally, the dream comes out and shows the attempt to block a transition, one inner aspect of the dreamer resisting another inner aspect from being able to merge. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: Well, what I remember of my dreams is I think in most of the dreams I was male.

The first dream, which is kind of vague to me, I think I worked in a television studio, in some kind of an action role, as a man. I don’t really remember that dream clearly.

And following that was a dream in which it felt like a woman I was engaged with was trying to get to where I was and there was a barrier between us. And so when she got up to where the barrier was, there was a little slot, kind of a see-through slot, in the wall where you could put something that identified yourself in. And I think she put our engagement ring in there.

And that was all I really remembered of the second dream.

John: The first dream is an imbalanced dream, in that you’re in an action role which is the opposite of the second dream. And the second dream has to do with you becoming committed to something because you had an engagement ring.

That has to do… it’s not a complete image, but the image, if projected all the way through, would have to do with, like I said, a type of commitment, which is actually a form of surrender. And the surrender is in terms of reaching a space inside of yourself in which you lose the way that you’re holding, or conducting, yourself outwardly.

In other words, you lose yourself to a something more, something greater. And the reason why I say it’s opposite the first image glimpse is that is an energetic that is being interjected into the equation that holds you back. The other is a letting go; it stops the doingness of something.

In other words, the feminine, in an overall sense, is a container that can take and handle the overall affairs of the world, that is able to absorb and take all of that in as a cadence. And you’re thrown off from doing that, you’re out of balance from doing that, and you’re scoping around from doing that. You’re having the image of that, but your first dream has you active, when that is a subjective way of being. And your second dream has you studying to figure out how to get back on track. What was your third dream?

Jeane: In the next dream I’m still a man, and wherever I’m working I want to change from the department I’m in to go work in a department where I’ll be like a spy or… yeah, I think it’s like a spy, it’s that kind of a department.

And there’s a man there that will try to block my getting there, so I’ve gone over to the department on my own to let them know my qualifications because I’m pretty sure that he’s written a letter that will try to block my getting that transfer. And when I get there, I get a packet that shows that, you know, they’ve got all my information, and I think it’s a packet like they’ve given me because they’re accepting the transfer. And yet I still have to go and see if I can find and block the letter that the other guy was going to send, or maybe it’s even included in my packet because they don’t care.

But I’m happy with being able to get a transfer to that department where I can be more active.

John: So again it’s not a smooth cadenced dream because there’s a sense of a transition that has to be made, or a shift. And, at the same time, there are things going on to keep it from happening, or to attempt to block it.

Dreams tend to have, if you look at a dream really closely, the dream has both a positive unfoldment, and a negative unfoldment. And even under a positive unfoldment there is stretching out from something that had been holding you back. And that there’s a way of looking at that, in the negative sense, in order to keep even a positive dream in perspective. There’s an anchor to it, behind it.

But your dreams are accentuating the fact that there is something going on that’s holding you back. You’re not able to catch up with how it is that you’re meant to be in the second dream. In the third dream, the sense of something trying to block you from being able to transfer, or transition, is fairly loud. It’s not just hidden and dormant. It’s a loud concern in the dream.

And, in the first dream, you’re carrying on going in an active sense that keeps you blurred. And if you mix that blurred active sense with the quality of trying to find a laid back rhythm of yourself that contrasts.

So, the sequence of the way you were dreaming is, you took and you set a context that was off right at the beginning on the first dream. And then, in the second dream, you proceeded to indicate that this was a struggle, that you had a struggle. Well, you would if you had all of this doing activity in the way. And, in the third dream, it’s like you have forces inside of yourself that are fighting you from being able to make a shift.

spy66If we were good spies, we would enter an area, gather the information we needed to complete our mission, and then slip out undetected. There’s no room for personal involvement, i.e., they were mean to me, I don’t like the design of this or that. In a dream we are all the characters, so when Jeane gets stopped by a checkpoint guard, it is only one aspect of her that has been detained, or one element that has some personal involvement. The rest of her is able to maintain its invisibility and continue on. It is our personal involvements that prevent us from proceeding in life. Jeane: It feels like I had one long dream where the thing I remember most about the dream is it felt like I was assuming certain postures, or doing something with my hands, so that I would deflect arrows that were being aimed at me. It seemed like a very impersonal thing actually. That’s all I really remember from that dream.

John: That’s a good image that shows that you’re somehow or another capable of holding a space that is important for purposes that don’t have to be decided in that dream, necessarily. You’re able to hold a space in spite of conditions. That space is apparently important, you’re able to deflect things that try to contaminate, or hurt, or harm, or penetrate that space. So it’s actually a constructive service there.

Jeane: In this next dream it feels like I’m young, I mean like around 20 or something like that. I’m in a country that feels somewhat like East Germany before the wall came down, and I’m trying to escape the country and meet up with some other spies that are leaving the country. I’m a spy of some kind.

So before I can rendezvous with my friends – who are a little bit older woman and maybe a guy about my age or maybe there are two other, I’m not sure. But, anyway, before I can rendezvous with them I run into somebody who’s like a guard, border guard of some kind, but he doesn’t realize that I’m a spy, so he just sees me as a young person who’s out and a little disoriented. So he kind of shows me which way to go through the woods or something, so I take his advice: I go through that way.

I finally meet up with my friends and we get on a train. It feels like and we’re leaving the country. We feel like we’re finally going to escape. And I’ve gone up to a train compartment with the woman who seems to be in charge and, at one point, she opens up a container. It almost looks like a small perfume container, but when I unscrew the lid on it it has different kinds of food in it, but they’re all kind of too sweet. They’re not the best foods, but it’s all there seems to be there right now. And then I kind of wander away from her.

Well, then I actually run into the guard, who by now realizes that I was a spy, but he doesn’t realize I’m with other spies, so he takes me down to a compartment on the train because the train’s in motion. It’s not like you can get off the train at this point. I’m kind of sitting on a bed that he’s on and I’m captured.

I feel kind of badly about he helped me before and now here I was a spy. I realize I have one or two weapons on me, but one’s in a case. It’s some kind of a sword that’s in a case, and the other is a knife that’s still in its package. So I dig around and I hand those to him because I kind of feel badly about them, but I kind of point out that I hadn’t even unwrapped them. Anyway, that was when I woke up.

Oh, the other thing about that scene is it felt like I pulled out a big apple but I kept looking for a place to take a bite out of the apple, but it’s all kind of rotted in different parts.

John: The dream is indicating that you’ve been able to actually take a step, or move ahead, in a process or an unfoldment that you shouldn’t have been able to make but you did it anyway. Therefore, like the apple, which has to do with one’s health, is rotten when you take a bite out of it, which indicates that something isn’t quite appropriate or right. And the thing that you’ve done is you have been able to be moved along further than normal because you are able to get past a checkpoint, or something that would have held you up, and you’re in a zone where there are other people that are operating in an invisible way.

You almost look sacrificial in something like that because you get exposed, but the other parts of yourself can kind of go on. So some aspect of yourself gets tripped up, but the other aspects continue on. And even in the dream there’s some question as to whether or not, just because you’ve been caught up with whether you actually, for all intents and purposes, you look pretty innocent. You don’t even have your weapons ready to go. You can come across as kind of like harmless because you are not really sophisticated.

The thing about the dream is that where and how this is meant to continue to evolve and unfold is still left up in the air. In other words, you may actually be given a pass yet, and even if you aren’t given a pass, the others got through. So something was able to proceed, just one little aspect tripped something up, but the rest remains invisible and is able to unfold.

So it’s an interesting dream in which it almost suggests or implies that something got ahead of itself, and by getting ahead it is like a little bit sacrificial in that it is understandable that it could get tripped up, but it’s also understandable that you’re not harmful in this space necessarily because it’s not like you’re properly weaponized. I mean, you don’t even have the proper readiness there, and yet you do because you’re with these other spies and they get through.

It’s an interesting dream in that it’s indicating and suggesting that there is something that is unfolding and taking place that doesn’t necessarily meet the eye. In other words, you have these arrows being shot at you in the first one and you’re deflecting them right and left. I mean, you can see them, and you’re deflecting them, and you’re able to hold a space.

And then that progresses into this thing where you’re able to go into an area that you shouldn’t have been able to get into under ordinary circumstances, and in that area is a whole bunch of others who are invisible and quiet. Maybe you still needed a little bit of polish to be in there with them, because you did get exposed, and yet at the same time it’s understandable in terms of the fact that, sure, what you’re doing is a little bit reprehensible and has to be stopped, but is it really a bad thing? No, not really, not necessarily because the whole idea is to be able to proceed discreetly and invisibly.

That is what a Sufi is, is that they are a spy in life because they do not get caught up and wrapped up in the outer events of things and therefore are able to have a effect upon things and able to make a difference when others caught up in the density of things cannot, yet you may have had just this little small area of yourself that got exposed but, by and large, in the schematic of things it seems like that’s understandable. I mean, it seems like something that is following its natural course, with maybe just a little bitty hiccup spot. And even if you’re held back, you’re okay with it.

You learn and know how, in terms of holding a space, that you’re able to maintain that space. In other words, when you have a part of yourself is able to then deflect off features, forces, and mannerisms that are incongruent and undermine or take away from that space. In other words, you’re able to hold the space.

And, at the same time, yes, you may have some little part of yourself that needs to catch up with something, but there are other parts that perfectly belong in that space, that far outnumber some little singular thing that is still a little immature or something, in terms of how its power and weaponization is to be, but the other parts are completely fine, and proceed, and are able to get along quite well.
