John: In following up from our discussion yesterday (see A Twisted Tale), an unknown man was chasing you and, when you reached what you considered a safe hiding place, there was a black cat there with a broken tail. Initially, it might not seem apparent that the cat has now embodied the energy that was chasing you.

First of all it’s interesting that you accept the black cat with the broken tail as a normal thing; you aren’t thrown off by it, you just want to reattach the tail. So you accept the cat and work to help it instead of being frightened and alarmed. Then the cat disappears and the man, who was after you, appears in its place and he now has the broken tail.

But the anxiety you feel is not in dealing with the man who had been chasing you (which might have been a normal reaction), but in effectively repairing the broken tail without hurting the man. So what you originally were running away from has now become something that you are dealing with. You’re trying to figure out how to affect this energy, or fix it, in a way that does no harm.

So I see this as dream about intertwining and linkage. It has a lot of depth to it, for you, in terms of showing what you’re able to take on, or experience, or relate to. If you had kept running from it, it would have shown unwillingness on your part to accommodate whatever energetic was trying to connect with you.

It’s also in keeping with my dreams and wondering about our move to Las Vegas, and how to deal with the over-the-top energy without being swept away by it.

It’s human nature to try to only deal with things that we feel have a cadence or balance to them. We don’t naturally move toward the things that challenge or obstruct us. We don’t want to continually fight with the elements in our environment. So we either run away from those things, or we stay and try to deal with them – to accommodate them into who we are, and in a way that fits with what is comfortable for us.

These processes are always occurring on an energetic level, yet when you accept the process of a spiritual journey, there comes a level of development where one actually looks to go into the energies that represent a type of darkness, in an effort to shed light on them and free them up in us.

At the beginning you might avoid the darkness, but then you can actually begin to enter the darkness and work with it. That process can resolve, uplift, or cause things to happen that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. That’s what you’re doing in your dream – entering the darkness.

Again, we have had to accommodate the energies of Las Vegas in our efforts to relocate here. The dreams we are having show that process evolving – they can show us exactly where we are.

Our concern in coming here was not the living arrangements or the comfort level, but how do we maintain our level of inner connection in the midst of this crazy city? Externally it’s hard to imagine one could live a spiritual life in this environment.

Yet the longer we are here, the more our systems are finding their balance, through our meditation and our dream work. And the challenge of it will actually make us stronger in our endeavor.

It has been said that the days of the yogi on the mountain top are over, meaning that spirituality in today’s world needs to be done by living life in the midst of the culture, and managing whatever life throws at us in a spiritual way. That’s the only way real change can come to the human race and the culture itself.

So this is what I’ve been pondering, even before we arrived here, and now you’re having a dream that indicates that something has disturbed you, yet when you try to go to your grandparent’s house, and then your neighbor’s, to avoid it, you find the darkness is right there with you.

Even though you might not realize what that darkness is, when you come to realize that the darkness is part of something that you’re trying to avoid, or suppress, you can work with that. And you can do it without being hurt by it, or without you hurting it. Even if some hurt happens, that’s okay because it’s all part of fixing something internally, which can then become, through you, part of the external world. That’s healing.

That’s an interesting, complex, even shamanistic kind of dream.

Jeane: In the next dream it also feels like I’m always on the run, although sometimes I pause and change directions. My persona is female in this dream.

Initially, I’m with a group of people and we seem to be running towards a body of water, but everyone stops because it looks like we can’t climb over the rocks that are in the way.

But I notice that one of the rocks, a huge rock, has eyes painted on it; it almost looks like something that used to live in the sea, but that came out of the water and became a rock.

Even though it looks like we’re initially blocked from getting to the water, I find a way to get access by climbing over the side. When I reach the water, it looks like a scene from a south Pacific island because a whole group of people are paddling toward the shore in those narrow wooden boats.

John: I’m confused. I’m trying to get the sequence of this down. You’ve gone over some barriers to reach the water?

Jeane: Yes.

John: And there’s also something that’s pursuing you?

Jeane: No, I’m not sure I’m being pursued, but I feel like I am moving very fast, and I have to climb over rocks to get to the water.

John: But you have the sense that there’s something in the past?

Jeane: I feel like there’s something after me in a way, yes, but I…

John: But you can’t put your finger on it.

Jeane: No.

John: And so it looks like, so far, that you’re taking the feminine approach, in which you’re following along in a natural way.

Jeane: So then, when I get to the water, it feels like my way will be blocked because there are all these people paddling in these narrow boats – one after another. It feels like either the boat, or a paddle, will hit me, particularly as they are paused for a moment just prior to starting a race or something.

But I seem to be determined, so I notice that there is a narrow little pathway between two of the boats. There is  a very thin dock, and one can go in the water underneath this dock and not get hit by the paddles.

After I go out into the water, I get onto a boat. Then I look towards the land and realize I have to head back there. I’m not exactly clear on the next sequence, but somewhere in this dream I had seen a male friend of mine who’s a little bit intense.

Somehow, at some point, I become aware that this friend has been taken over by a demon or something, and he’s turning that dark energy on people. That’s why I have to go back to shore – to help with that situation.

When I get back on land I realize there are other people who have been taken over by these “dark forces” and they’re trying to hide this fact. If one pretends like they don’t know it, then the others won’t attack them.

I’m moving amongst them as though I think they’re okay, even though I know they’re not. I know that somewhere among them is a baby that they’ve taken, but the baby still hasn’t been touched by all this dark energy. If they don’t realize that I’ve recognized who they are, I might be able to get to the baby.

Then it feels like I do get to the baby. I don’t really see that I remove the baby, maybe just touching the baby was enough. However I do have to keep moving because I realize that this force (embodied by my male friend) is chasing and taking over people. I’m aware of it because I knew him before the force possessed him.

So I have to go and face the situation. I might be able to help. I’ve left the house where all the people had already been taken over, and I feel like I have to go back into the village. Perhaps I can help. Because I knew him before, maybe I will be able to touch something.

We will delve into the inner dynamics behind this dream in our next post!

Jeane: I am in an art gallery, the kind one finds in the southwest, say, in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, where there are white walls, and pedestals with artwork on them. The floor is wooden and it’s a very spacious gallery. A male friend of mine comes in the front door and there’s a woman who’s part of this store, and I seem to have a relationship to this gallery as well.

While we are all in the gallery something happens and the lights flicker out. This occurs several times. Each time the lights flicker out, I’m aware that something negative has happened – I get a sense of fear.

I’m not even sure at first what has happened. Has something been taken? Has something worse happened? Whatever it is, periodically the lights flicker out, and these things occur. No one knows who has done it.

My friend looks suspiciously at me. The woman is not so sure. I know that I haven’t done it because I know something that they do not know. What I figure out (toward the end of the dream) is that if you log in to the computer that runs everything (that you are the system administrator for), you can know what is going on.

Although you are the administrator for it, I know the password. Therefore, I’m not the one causing these odd events because I have an interest in the gallery that they might not even know about.

Once I become aware of that, it feels like we’re all outside the gallery and I’m looking at the area that encompasses more of the town. At this point I’m just observing what is happening. What I see is that a woman, who helps out at the gallery (not the woman I saw earlier), has a son. Her son looks like he is in his teens or early 20s – he’s thin and seems insecure.

What has happened is that her son has become a werewolf. When he changes into a werewolf and has to kill someone, she protects him because that is her son. Maybe that is what has been happening?

I observe that he sees a girl who is about his age, and he looks toward his mother, as if for permission: Can he choose her for his next victim? She nods.

You can sense that they are sad about this but, if you’re a werewolf, you’re a werewolf. He goes off to an area by a road, where there’s an underpass, and he kills the girl.

Unbeknownst to him, the young girl was not alone – there was another young girl with her. The second young girl is traumatized by what she has seen. She comes over to where the rest of us are and there is blood on her.

She needs someone to talk to, or she needs comforting.

Ahhh – Ooooooo! As the moon waxes full, we shall gather the townsfolk and our torches, and pursue the meaning of this eerie dream!
