John: I keep dreaming that there is a dominant, inner expression that dictates the outer life. This is an influence that is familiar, deep within my natural frame of reference. However, the loudness of everything else – the superficial – drowns out this effect over the short run.

So this influence silently dictates the overall way things unfold, even though it’s not readily apparent in the outer.

In one image, I see this inner expression represented as a skeletal frame that holds things together. The outer features are what I notice at first, and am apt to be swayed by – like the skin and the flesh on this frame – on a moment-by-moment basis. As a result, the controlling feature in life (the inner expression) takes a backseat to everything else in the outer environment. Or so it seems, even though in the long run the skeletal backbone to life is what ultimately wins out.

In other words, what I saw is this skeletal structure, and it comes all the way down to the ground. So there’s something about the structure that makes an energetic connection to everything that’s rooted in creation. Then the shell, the body, the flesh, and the skin on it is what people pay attention to, it’s what they see, so they’re not aware that there is an aliveness to the structure that actually dictates what is meant to be and how things are to unfold.

Everyone is paying attention to what is more apparent or obvious, i.e., the denser, outer layer, which is just the wrapper, or the exterior of the skeletal structure. So people base their choices and actions according to appearances, because that’s the easiest to sense and to see.

In other words, the invisible skeletal structure carries the energetic or vibration of what’s meant to be, not the skin and the flesh and everything else that’s visible. But it’s the outer, visible layer that has a loudness that captures the senses, and draws everyone’s attention.

Of course, in the long run, what wins out, in terms of what is meant to be, is determined by the skeletal structure.

Isn’t that a strange image?

So in this dream I feel fortunate in knowing what is actually affecting what manifests in the outer. It’s a wonderful feeling of relief to know that there is inner guidance, determined or destined to come to the forefront of my being.

First of all, I sense this in a fairly general way, but then I realize that my attention is drawn more to the skeletal structure than it is to the outer layers. I do not readily grasp this.

I can feel it and I can know it, but I lose sight of this knowing when I’m caught up in some situation that requires my immediate attention. Even then, when I’m unable to hold onto an inner balance, I’m comforted in a subconscious way with knowing that there is the essence of what is meant to be, like it’s waiting for me to go there, to look there.

In the dream, because I’ve made the choice to have the inner framework to life dictate how I’m meant to live, even my mistakes and detours are simply guided and shaped into what is intended. I find that amazing.

In other words, as I fumble about it’s almost like something else is directing me because whatever I’m doing is being transformed somehow. It’s affected. Sometimes I suffer when this happens, but at other times my input is redirected and guided to bring out the intended inner effect.

I come to know and trust this inner expression, even though it’s not visible; for me it is just as real as what is visible. What is visible in the outer is there for appearances only. I’ve become able to see the deeper thread of things, beyond the noisy surface.

This cannot be said, however, for my coarser nature that is still dominated by the appearances of the outer world, fed only by the physical senses.

What I’m describing is a subtle awakening, of my consciousness, to that which lies deep within my nature. It gives me joy each time I’m able to break through the outer barriers and be touched by this inner essence, which waits patiently for me to attune myself to its existence at the core of my being.

John: Last time we ended by touching on some of the different aspects between the masculine way of approaching something, and the feminine way of approaching something. I think it’s interesting to explore a bit more, because we can see how it is playing out both in our dreams and in our waking life processes (see Set in Motion).

Generally, I’m too much off the ground, and that’s a natural aspect of the masculine. You experience the world with a certain fundamental rootedness, and that’s a naturally feminine aspect.

What that means is that you view, and experience, and have appreciation for things through the lens of how they fit and where they belong as part of the wholeness. For example, if we both experience the sun shining, or a sunset, or an animal running across the field, those experiences don’t necessarily register with me as being meaningful. I can easily dismiss them because I’m much less rooted in the whole. But you can be touched by the meaningfulness of those events immediately.

So your rootedness allows you to embrace the whole much better, while I’m inclined to miss its importance unless I find a way to ground it in me. At a speeded-up pace, I’m comparatively faster in assessing the motion of things, and I can quickly get a sense of what is going on, but it might not have tangibility or meaningfulness until I root it into life – into creation.

Generally, when things come up in life, you will be much better at establishing where it might belong in the overall scheme of things, and I can more quickly discern what is needed as a next step. The thing is, we both need both aspects. The next step can’t be accurately assessed without it being understood in the context of the whole (rooted).

If you see something more as a setness and it doesn’t go into motion, it will have to go through a number of different levels in you before you can get to a stage of appreciation. I have to go from a level of speed and motion that is somewhat detached from things – that doesn’t get its hands dirty – down into something rooted and pull it through. That is the process of taking what one sees and penetrating it right down into life, where it can hold a particular setness.

So this is an interesting dynamic that’s shifting around between us. What it’s doing is allowing you to better see how to appreciate the masculine quality that functions in this other capacity (motion), and helps bring things into life, because you already have a very set, solid container quality.

What I am being shown is that I have an acuity that’s too fast, too mercurial, and that I need to ground it (connect to the feminine), in order to really get a sense of what something is.

When you mix in the decisions and changes involved in our moving to Las Vegas, we’re seeing the two extremes. I find it difficult to get rooted into the atmosphere of this place because the environment is so stirred up I find it disorienting.

And you’re sitting there trying to figure out what is below that dizzying surface – what is meaningful. You get a sense that I see something meaningful. I get a sense that you see something rooted. I can’t get to the rooted if you can’t get to the meaningful. I can sense the meaningful, but it can’t be brought alive without the rootedness. It’s a very strange thing.

We can bring it all together in one image, and that’s the image of the view from the apartment overlooking The Strip. That view is something that you probably appreciate in terms of the lights in a regular way, as an aspect of creation. I appreciate it more as an aliveness that I see in the lights; it’s disjointed, but I do see the aliveness and the lights.

So what we are being asked is, “Can you see the lights and the appreciation of an aliveness in those lights, and hold the rootedness?” And, “Can I take the aliveness of those lights and find the rootedness, and therefore create a connection?

That’s what I think our dreams have been prompting in us.

Jeane: In this dream we’re in outer space. I’ve gone down either to another ship or another planet and the man I’m with is still in a smaller ship.

There’s a mother ship and the man has a smaller spaceship, and then I’m down in another area. I can’t tell if I’m in a smaller space ship or if I’m actually down on a planet. I can’t remember that. The problem is we’re making a move to another planet and we need to have supplies approved by his mother who’s in between the mother ship and his ship.

His mother’s not completely on board with the move, so she’s not approving some of the supplies we need, which seem to be these silver objects and things. I’ve tried to persuade her. I’m not having much luck, but suddenly I get this bright idea that a lot of the supplies we need are smaller items that probably fit in the petty cash category. Items in that category can just be ordered without approval, i.e., we don’t have to go through his mother.

In that way I can get the supplies to him. I know it’s not an ideal solution. It would be a lot better if the mother would just recognize what was needed and give it to us, but she’s not doing that. It’s the best plan I can come up with that solves the problem.

John: What you’re doing is describing a change, or shift, in the energetic nature of your own being. In this shift you are going away from what had been a stable, centered base of operations, i.e., the mother ship. And what you’re attempting to do can be seen as having an important quality in terms of the human condition.

In other words, there are certain things that one can do that will be accepted, but other things require a higher approval. In terms of the big picture, you are moving away from what had been your center and, as a consequence, the next place, or quality, you are moving into has not yet been fully approved, or fully recognized.

It’s a mixed message, because even though there’s a certain depth in terms of it all, it needs something more for it to fully come together. Within that you are given a bit of latitude – the smaller items – that can facilitate your ability to keep inching forward.

So you are in a transition within your self where you’re able to make little steps towards the transitioning (you’re able to get the smaller items). You’re able to put together certain things that need to be in the container (you), and that aspect is allowed or is accepted.

However, what really needs to be there – the bigger items – have not yet been made known to you. So there is a provision that is made for the smaller aspects to be given because it’s not part of some primary guidance. The primary guidance behind it all still hasn’t fully come through.

Perhaps the reason full guidance hasn’t come through is because there is often a limitation caused by internal fears when you throw yourself outside of the home base (your center of gravity). There’s a certain kind of sorrow in what it means to let go of that mother ship.

It’s a sorrow that suggests, or implies, that the full orders for what’s next haven’t been blessed in terms of your understanding, or in terms of your grasp of the linkage.

So it’s an interesting space to be sitting in, recognizing that you’re going away from the center, but not yet cleared for the complete transition.
