The Greater Office

At the end of the day we can sit for a few minutes and review how our day went. How did we handle that encounter, or why did we not speak up? Or, look how much we accomplished! This is not designed to be critical, but to be conscious of how we are, in relationship to the world we are interacting with, because being aware helps us in the future. We can look at our dreams in the same way: how are we handling, or managing, the scenes we are in? How does it make us feel? Today’s dream is a good example of this. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: I only remembered my last dream. And in that dream, at first I’m in a building, it seems like it’s an old wooden building with several stories to it. And I seem to go down to an office – I wish I could remember this more clearly – but there’s some younger kids, a guy that’s maybe 18, 19.

And then I seem to go down and talk with them in their office and then leave the building with them. And they take me down to an area where one of them is giving a concert. So we sit behind some bleachers, and the guy has his little band right to the side. And it feels like a girl about his age comes in that he knows, and then the whole room is filled up with people.

And as he’s singing and giving the concert sometimes all these little teeny boppers come and kind of swoon about that and it’s like the other girl and I are kind of looking at each other, because we just know him as almost like a brother. And so to see all these other kids kind of going gaga over him is kind of amazing.

Plus, we’re actually a little amazed that he really can sing quite well. He’s even made up some songs of his own and I’m impressed by that, that he can remember all these songs. Then he goes in front of us a bit to sing to some more girls who kind of flooded down from the bleachers kind of like to stream around the singer.

But then, when he’s over with the song, suddenly most of the adults and everybody just stand up and walk out. It’s like, well, it’s been there long enough and it’s time to go home. It’s just like this abrupt end to it all. That’s all I remember.

John: What did it feel like? Like, when you say you came down to this office and went with this guy to where he was doing his music gig, or a different energy, what did that feel like to do that?

Jeane: Well, it was a little more liberating once we went down to where he was singing than it was in the office atmosphere. The office atmosphere was just kind of restrictive.

John: Yes, the theme of the dream state, kind of like the lesson to be looked at for last night, had to do with being able to accommodate a flow, that may not even be something that you’re familiar with, that you’re aware that you’re familiar with, anyway, but that you’re able to accommodate, because you’re able to watch, or let go.

Now watching and let go have a lot in common, with the distinction that let go can imply an avoidance, but a proper letting go incorporates an inclusiveness.

So the greater office of your being is that in which you’re able to go into the various elements of flow, that exist in the outer, and be able to take it in, and be able to be kind of a watcher or empty space to that. And that helps facilitate it running its course, which means that it comes to a completion.

Deeper in all of that is that the letting go and holding the space that accommodates the letting go of a flow, that may be anything, it doesn’t have to be just what you portrayed, it can be anything, is your work. Is what brings you out of a trance, in which you find yourself as holding onto a separate modality.

You find that you can be in life and amidst all of this other stuff going on in the office of life and not get swept up by it, be able to accommodate it, however, in other words you don’t fight it. And you pull something out of that, then, that is important, that has its own beauty.

It may not be the beauty in the eyes of all people, but it’s a beauty, nevertheless, in terms of a way of being because things are just energies, they’re not positive or negative, per se. And by being able to be an empty space, you are able to take it in until it just runs its karma, comes to a fruition, or comes to its own deeper awakening.

The Central Office

space2This dream imagery is particularly helpful because it shows that things can happen on the inner levels similarly to the way they unfold in outer life. And what is at issue is something missed, something not connected to that could have been connected to. At a certain level, everything we do is in relation to a flow, whether we are completely disconnected from it, or feeling in tune with it – and that relationship can change everything that is possible for us in the next moment. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: In my first dream, I kind of work as part of a large organization and I’ve been called more to the central office, and I’m meeting with a group of people there because we have a special project we’re working on for one of the administrators. So we go there regularly and we meet and finish this project.

Well, when the project’s complete, the administrator is talking to us one day about a certain restaurant, but when it comes like about 5 o’clock I leave. And then after I leave I realize that the last time we worked on a special project it’s not like we really get anything extra for this project, but they’ve taken us out to dinner, or maybe they gave us something so we could go out to dinner at a certain place.

So I’m wondering if that’s what they were planning on doing that night and I had missed the cue, because I just left when 5 o’clock came, because to me we’d like finished the project so what’s done is done. But then are they going to be a little offended if they meant to take you out to dinner and you didn’t stay around to go out to the dinner, or not?

I just don’t know, so I seem to be a little confused about how everything ended.

John: So, you have to realize that one part leads to the other. So first of all, you are doing something that is important, or connected, to the central office or, in other words, the main thing in life, that you’re doing something that is on the path, or on the thread of that.

Whenever you do something that is in sync and in flow with what is intended to unfold, meaning, as the first part suggests, that you were doing something for the main office, then that causes other things to continue to open up. And what opens up is almost like the reciprocal realization, as part of doing all of this, that you then are able to go to the restaurant or to a whole other flow, a whole other shifted way or means, that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

Now, you’re having this dream because for whatever particular reason you’re not making the association of how a particular level of balance, and understanding, and depth, and clarity, and consciousness inside reaches and causes something further to come into recognition. You aren’t making that association. In fact, you’re questioning it, or aren’t sure. In other words, for some particular reason you don’t quite give yourself permission to go along with the overall flow.

Maybe it’s better understood if one looks at how this naturally is, that you can put your finger on, which is simple awareness that whenever you’re feeling really good, or balanced, or satisfied with whatever it is that you’re doing, more things just naturally open up. But whenever you are feeling uptight, or irritable, and have to force yourself to do something and your heart isn’t into it, then you close down – and the potentiality around you closes down as well.

So this is on the same motif, and so it’s kind of like, if you think about it, the scenario might be, well, you were over helping your dad and because that was something that was central and essential as part of what is needed in terms of the bigger equation of life, and it feels good and it was a wonderful thing to do, and it left you with a great sensation, then other things just naturally ensued or opened up, which again is following the same principle.

And then that principle is even expressed in the Bible as honor thy father and thy mother. Well, why? Well, when you do something that you do in appreciation, and recognition, and acceptance, and in flow, things automatically come across that may not have been able to come into your awareness if you had gone around with an attitude, or a mood, or an uptightness.

So, you could say something like that kind of provided the scenario for triggering the dream, and then you could look at the general motif and how that works that I just described earlier, and then you could look at the dream itself and point out that you were doing something that was central, that was important to the whole, that was important to your flow, and so if other things ensued from that as a continuation or a process, you don’t doubt that, you don’t question that, you realize that that comes with the territory.

Inner Self8In these dream images, Jeane is struggling with spaces – where and when to meet a sailing group, and where to have her offices. Yet, ultimately, what this points out is the need to be able to hold a space – within oneself – as a part of the overallness. Once Jeane reaches that point, she is able to reconnect with the flow, and the space she is in adapts to that. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: The second half of my dream is so loud that I lost a lot of the first half. What I remember of the first half of the dream is it feels like I’m trying to get together with a group of people who are meeting.

They’re meeting in the evening, maybe even in a bar or someplace, but what they’re really meeting for is that they’re forming a sailing class, but it’s a class that’s going to learn how to sail certain types of boats.

And some people have done this before and others haven’t, and so we’re going to meet and I guess part of the purpose of the meeting is to pair up and things. That’s about all I really remember of the first part of the dream.

It’s trying to kind of coordinate to get together with these people, and trying to figure out who had sailed before and who hadn’t, and where the class was going to be and all of that. The other part of the dream got so loud.

John: Well, what you are doing is, you’re having to hold the space, you’re having to determine what the setting needs to be in, that you’re able to then take off and sail. And so that’s what you’re attuning yourself to, vibrationally, is the space that you have to hold, or maintain.

So you start off doing that in order to continue.

Jeane: Part of where the dream goes is, it feels like I’m in some kind of a medical setting where I work, and most of the people who do counseling have their offices in one part of the building, but I seem to be in another part. And this part isn’t terribly well arranged.

But I do have two offices that adjoin each other, and maybe even though some people come and go in one, I can see people there, and there’s a little confusion about whether I’m supposed to meet with somebody or not.

So somebody does show up, and it feels like before I see someone, it’s almost like one or two of the other therapists come by and we’re actually looking at the space because they would kind of like me to be where their offices are, but the difficulty I have with that is the office I’m in now, even though it’s somewhat separate, it has windows and stuff and I don’t think theirs do.

So I’m a little reluctant to give up having windows, but after they’ve left, even though I don’t remember scheduling an appointment, it’s like I have somebody come and I’m having trouble now with a place to see them.

And then somebody else comes at the same time, and before I know it, there are three of us and we’re sitting at more of a table, and I’m trying to first see this woman who brings in her little girl, about a 10-year-old, who’s a little nervous about seeing a therapist.

Whatever office I have, it just seems to be now I’m just in a space where I seem to have to see people just as they come, wherever I’m at, because where I’m at keeps changing at this part of the dream.

This woman with the daughter that maybe doesn’t speak that much English and she’s brought her in and she needs to be seen, but I’m still sitting at a table now with one other person who has come to see me, but I have to do something first to reassure the little girl.

Then it just feels like those people are gone, and there are some people that I’ve counseled that I’ve seen in a group before, but suddenly they’re showing up individually, and before I can see one, the other one pops up and the space keeps kind of expanding. And I’m trying to sort out how to fit some of them in.

And then I see another one I hadn’t even known was there sitting and waiting. Then I go over and I look for a piece of paper to write something on, and it has all already got writing on it by you, or by somebody else, and I have to keep turning it over until I find a piece that I can put something on.

So I’m just trying to figure out now, I’m trying to write down the name of at least one of them so I can sort some stuff out here, and then I try to tell them that maybe I can sort it out where I give a certain number of minutes to one person, and then I see another person who I guess I’d started talking to, and now she wants some more time, too.

I can’t remember her name. Then I glance out. It feels like we’ve shifted from an office to where we’re all sitting on a bus.

John: First of all, in the first part of your dream, you establish as a base the fact that you have to work in an overall way. You have to find the flow that takes into account everything around you. And you’re finding what that feels like, and how that feels to you is how you’re meant to be in relationship to this overall.

But then as the dream progresses, you’re still trying to guide, or direct, or hold onto something – like whether you have an office with windows or something like that. And so you’re still trying to hold back something in terms of the whole flow, in other words, where you have certain things that would be nice to have, your creature comforts yet.

When you let go of that, and are able to be affected by things randomly, or just in the flow of life as life comes to you, as opposed to having to steer it, or guide it, in some capacity, you find that that this, then, takes you back into the flow.

So you’re now able to meet with the groups, with the overall again. You somehow or another created a distraction when you had to have, or felt you needed to have, a particular kind of space from which to work.

But now that you realize that you can work from whatever the dynamic is that you end up in, and can meet with the group and be okay, you’re realizing that the difference between the first part of the dream, and then this dream, is you’re coming back to what is essential, in terms of letting go, so that you can carry the greater overallness.

You would have thought the dream would have ended there, because that’s plenty of dream right there, but it doesn’t. The dream then says that when you have developed the ability to meet with the overallness of others, and have let go of the need to protect some sort of space that you have to do this in, so that you can do this in whatever setting you’re in, then you can now have more of an effect, which is more masculine oriented, which is you can now, instead of providing the overall setting, you’re now able to take and work succinctly and directly with individuals as opposed to the group.

In other words, instead of being a quality that’s able to hold the overall space together for something that is important to the Whole, you’ve done that, and so that has been established. You don’t have attachments to sort out, so you’re holding the acuity of that together, and you’re holding it so much so together that you have that capacity inside of yourself to bring something through.

Usually you can’t bring something through if you’re fogged up with moods, or mannerisms, which still haven’t been made comfortable. And so when you’ve been able to accept the overallness, you can then go and make another shift inside yourself, which is a masculine shift, and bring something through specifically, which is oriented to being able to work one-on-one.

And now from this, you’re now progressing, because you were doing this all within a contained environment, and now your dream sounds like it’s about ready to progress into going out of yourself now or, in other words, into the bigger schematic of what’s considered an outer, as opposed to just the inner – because the inner and the outer have to be one and the same, too.
