Something’s Missing

Dreams during a single night are usually connected, weaving imagery together to portray an inner issue, which comes through as guidance for our waking life. Here John and Jeane continue discussing the dreams from the previous night (see Who Are You?). (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link, should you wish to download this recording to your computer.)

Jeane: So in my next dream I’m going to get married or I’m considering getting married, but it feels like if we’re having a ceremony the reception or whatever is being held in kind of a circular building outside, and they have valets that come and park the car.

The way that they park the car is they take it from you and then they back it up into a space in kind of a circle around the building and I’m kind of being a little fussy that they park my car near the front so that it’s easy to leave since it’s my wedding, or reception, whatever it is.

Then it feels like I’ve gone from there to this kind of small… initially it looks a little like a trailer but that has been very nicely fixed up by my husband and his family, complete with a little high chair, because I must be pregnant, and it was almost like the family was a little anxious about whether I would go through with the wedding or not.

It’s like I had to kind of feel comfortable about how the place had been decorated even though it’s a very small, very simple space with wood floors. Then when I look around I notice the space has changed and instead of just being this kind of like almost like one room very plain but very nice space with the wooden floors and everything, I now see that there are steps that go down that lead to a second area that has a couch that faces a little fireplace and it’s no longer just a trailer but it’s an apartment that I’d been renting in a building where a lot of people rented apartments that kind of ran into the next apartment.

There’s almost like some division between them, but we’re all shifting, we’re all shifting units over one, because the landlord is remodeling. My unit still looks the same but I’m looking around at what’s happening to other people around me and there were two people that were rooming together and the person that originally had the place is going to be keeping it but the other one is moving on. I will have this place but I’m still moved over one from where I used to live.

John: The dream is indicating that in order for you to make the connection, or the marriage, or whatever, to bring it through, that there’s a shift that has to happen. In other words, however it was that you had the appearance of how things are in terms of how you are in relationship to where you lived, or the house perception, so to speak, of yourself, that has shifted into something different – this other house.

So, let’s see if I can say it. You’re rejecting something that had been put together and shaped in a particular way, that for some reason bothers you now.

In other words, it’s almost as if, is it a rejection or a realization?, that you have a shift that you can make, or you can sit in something that has run some sort of test of time, in terms of its value or utility to you. If you continue to accept how that is in terms of how it’s put together, how it’s shaped, this will keep you from shifting.

So, what the dream is trying to say is that there’s an attention that you need to catch up with, that you need to place your attention upon, that you would be inclined to miss if you overly indulge in the environment that you’re in. If you tend to see the scenario of that environment as comfortable…

Well, there’s a part of you that isn’t comfortable in it, but the dream isn’t indicating that you have precisely figured out why it is that it’s not comfortable, or why it is that something is off, and you could very easily disregard what you note as off.

But, if you do, there also seems to be at hand here something that has to do with a shift. It’s as if the shift can’t happen, the shift won’t happen, if you don’t come to grips with whatever it is that’s holding something off.

The first dream [see Who Are You?] you’re going to see how that came out in terms of you’re going to let the situation decide what made the most sense, based upon the kind of return that came in.

But your first bets had no return coming in and the second sequence of bets, the next candidate seemed to create winnings. So that kind of drew you forward, but that kind of being drawn out like that led to you coming across and discovering there was something that you had lost [the purse].

In other words, your identity now is stirred up. So it’s as if the resource that you are drawing from to bet, what was the correlation of that to this purse? Did the monies come from the purse?

Jeane: I found the purse and then I took some monies out of it, some quarters or something.

John: Were you using that to bet?

Jeane: I don’t know what I was doing with it. It’s almost like because I was collecting other coins that had fallen, then when I found the purse I started just to collect coins again, then I got interested in what was in the purse and what it told me about somebody and if I could locate them.

John: So in that dream you seemed to be asking the question: why is it that you’re doing what you’re doing? In other words, something isn’t quite coming through for you, that’s what it is. Something isn’t quite coming through for you.

It’s like saying your feminine nature needs to hear a memo, and it has come to the point where you need to hear that, you need to get that memo better than what has been happening so far. It needs to come through clear for identity purposes.

And in the second dream, in terms of being able to make the shift that’s necessary at this point in time. Of course, if there’s some memo that you’re meant to get, that throws the responsibility upon me in some fashion, because I represent that masculine energy that pulls something down as a clarity that then awakens something from a hearing center that completes the loop, or the process, by which then something is energetically entwined and correlated.

But I seem to be not quite getting that memo either. If I’m not seeing it, how can it be possible for you to see it, would be my attitudinal response if I were to look at myself as having a role in relationship to your process.

We’re both being challenged in terms of something that’s there on an identity level that isn’t being recognized. Only your dream takes it one step further and indicates that this is important, that there’s something about this in which what we are caught up in is holding us back.

We need to subtly recognize whatever it is that we are caught up in, and realize that some slight letting go or whatever that is, there is a shift that’s necessary, that we’re meant to catch at this point in time.

I don’t get the sensation that it’s anything wrong because it’s more a matter of us not getting something. This is a real stretch here. What is it that we’re not getting that we’re meant to get?

The Change Agent

Jeane: I slept pretty soundly and I don’t remember much of my dream. My impression is that I’m at a large shopping center with parking garages. There’s a man somewhere in the parking garage and I feel like I’m either trying to avoid him or connect with him.

I don’t feel that I have a personal relationship with him, but there’s some kind of connection between us. Either he’s moved or I’ve moved, but when we try to connect we keep missing each other. I can’t remember whether I wanted to miss him for a certain period of time or if I’m trying to connect with him because there’s been a shift.

It’s such a large space to search around that you have to have your timing coordinated. I think we finally do connect but it seemed to take a long time.

John: The image of the parking garage is an image of a condition that is fixed – where you’re holding onto a particular condition that exists in terms of how you see yourself on one level, more or less as a result of one’s senses and mind or outer mannerism. Then this man that you’re meant to connect with – and you know that it’s meant to happen – is a connection that involves you having to make a shift.

That’s a connection that takes you from your current state and enables you to make a shift – to go along with something new. Until you make that connection, it’s like being parked; you’re fixed. You’re waiting. You’re in a position in which what is meant to emerge, or come through you, or catch up with you, or awaken you – however you would describe that process of enfoldment – has not yet happened.

You know it’s coming, you know it’s converging, but there’s a part of this dream that could actually make you feel somewhat depressed because if you came to see yourself as stuck, or parked and…

Jeane: But the man is in the parking garage; I’m trying to get there.

John: Okay, that’s a bit different.

Jeane: He might be someone who supervises where people park, that sort of thing. He’s got a little golden energy with which he moves things around.

John: Hmmm. So, what you have is a mixed role with the masculine. On one hand, the masculine appears to be stuck, or parked, on the other hand the masculine is something that has to be rescued: he’s at the parking garage and you have to meet there.

Then on another level, the masculine brings in the seed that brings about the change. These are diametric processes. You have three things going on. You have something that on one level is parked, on another level has to be rescued, and on yet another level is an element or quality that brings about change.

It’s almost like you’re portraying three dynamics of amnesia: the parking part, the part where something needs to be jarred or awakened (something needs to connect with the masculine in a grounding way because it’s off the ground), and yet you can’t be too cavalier about that either because the masculine carries in something that brings the change agent, the seed for something new.

The purpose of a dream like this, and why you’re able to dream a dream like this, is that you’re able to accept things as they are, knowing that there’s something more going on. If you view the situation as stuck or parked, you would be at your wits end in regard to doing anything new in life. For example, it would make our move to Las Vegas abhorrent for you.

However, in viewing the situation as something that has to be helped or rescued, that idea keeps you on the path of trying to help alleviate something in Creation. By viewing the situation as offering something more, something that’s beyond your capability or grasp, it shows awe and respect for the fact that the masculine is the quality that brings forth. Maybe it’s imbalanced, maybe it’s stuck, but it brings forth the change that can be realized into Creation.

I recall a woman teacher who would frequently say, “Okay, that’s a dichotomy, and both things are true.” In this dream you actually have three things occurring on different levels and they’re all true. You have something that’s parked or stuck, you have something that needs to be reached, and you have the quality whereby that which is stuck and needs to be reached is the precursor to what needs to come through. It’s carrying the memo.

Quite amazing.

The Cause of the Cause

John: In my dream I go into a building wanting to receive permission for something. I take it for granted that I will be given permission – the required process is just a formality.

I’m not sure what’s really involved, but I begin to realize that there may be more to it than I thought. My heart sinks when I’m told that I won’t be able to meet with the appropriate commissioners.

That had been my expectation – that I’d make a simple presentation and my request would be approved. However, I’m told that I will have to make my case before one commissioner, who is currently in another meeting, and that the decision will be final. At that moment I realize I’m not energetically ready to do this.

I realize that my casual approach won’t be appropriate – the situation will require a much more precise presentation. I am shown to an area with a desk to wait for the commissioner. I’m told I can use the desktop to set up any type of display as part of my case.

But I haven’t come with any props. I stick my hands in my pockets and find a small wooden box. It has a couple of small drawers; it’s just a square little jewelry box. It’s in a few pieces, so I have to put the drawers back in because then the box can accommodate a number of small bottles.

It is the small bottles that I need to get approved. They are different from what is currently available and need to have a stamp, or label, on them. This is the only prop I can come up with, this small box that’s all broken.

As I fumble about, I don’t find the glass bottles. I find fragments of things that are a replica of a glass bottle, but made out of a different material and out of proportion. I see myself trying to jam them into the drawers.

This dream is showing me a correction, or tuning, that needs to be made. It illustrates a kind of balancing that occurs between the masculine and feminine aspects. The feminine aspect has to do with the acceptance or approval, but it does so as a facilitator, or as a container. It has no opinion on the details.

It’s the masculine that knows whether something has the needed precision or not. But it can’t know that without the feminine facilitating that information coming through.

So, I needed a bit of tuning, because what I thought was enough to accomplish what I needed to accomplish wasn’t necessarily okay. It’s not the feminine role to determine the required precision. The masculine is the agent of change. The masculine has to determine if what is transpiring is in accordance with how things need to transpire.

In this dream the masculine is the higher self, akin to the world of divine command (with the feminine being creation itself). When something new is brought into the world (the bottles), the feminine accommodates it, but the masculine must be taken into account in terms of the requirements.

So we see that I’m ill prepared for this requirement. I do not yet embody what is needed to make my case before the commissioner. I am left hoping that I carry within me – somewhere deep down (in my pockets) – something that can touch the clarity and precision that is appropriate.

What I am to realize with this imagery is that there is a discipline required – just as in your dream yesterday where the connection required attention, or a form or tending, to keep it intact. Here, I must communicate to the person who will decide my fate in the matter, in a disciplined way.

The commissioner represents this masculine authority that can give the official stamp of approval to what wants to be brought newly into life. Again, it’s my masculine side that knows how something needs to be. Once approved, then the new thing can vibrationally permeate throughout creation.

Everything in creation (feminine) is awakened with masculine energy. The masculine can probe into the depths of the feminine energy. But it requires the discipline of being right with it, of being appropriate to what is needed. In this sense, the masculine offers a thread into this greater hiddenness inside of us.

In those depths it can come even closer to the cause of the cause, the root of the root. The bringing of something through, inner to outer, in the proper way, has to do with a greater precision in terms of how one connects inside.

In other words, you don’t just come up to a particular point of connection and treat it casually. It all has to be taken back to the sanctity of emptiness. That makes everything work. You go through an experience and the experience touches you. You are then meant to hold the quality of that in the heart (which holds the level of creation), and then you shift from that at some particular point and hopefully go beyond the images of a dream that flash or flicker, and bring it into the outer realms.

You connect into a place of something huge, where you get unlimited information, and then that information gets brought through, allowing you to see how it needs to be handled in order to maintain the new information – how you need to be to hold the new relationship you have attained.
