John: We’ve been examining what it means to surrender to the flow of life (see Playing it Safe). When we resist that, by being a slave to our own personal involvements, psychologies, and patterns, we disconnect from everything else in the universe. That’s how we deceive ourselves.

But, if we can get out of our own way, we then somehow gain access to natural knowings about what to do next. Said another way, we are more able to appreciate the flow if we take personal aspects out of the equation and connect strictly to what is natural (universal), or predesigned, in terms of Divine Will.

The closeness of the connection is determined by the degree to which we are able to step aside from our ego-based experience and instead participate more like a natural, living organism in what is unfolding.

It’s an aliveness, and it comes with catching up with Divine Will, beginning from our inner selves and reflecting that into the outer world, and then it begins to work from the outer world into our inner lives. That is the whole cycle of creation, when a human being is living as they’re meant to live – open to the heart of hearts of life itself.

Basically humans have come to believe, through our self-centered view of life, that our safety is based in our personal protections. But those become the veils of illusion – they’re like our own personal filters – which prevent us from seeing and experiencing the whole of life.

The removal of these veils leads to us to an understanding about the evolution of the soul in the greater scheme of things. Said another way, it’s like the light from within rises up to touch the light of Divine Will, which comes down to touch the spiritual, universal essence imbedded within each of us.

I have this dream image in which there is a great big pot of soup, or stew, being cooked. It’s a huge melting pot of things, and there is a cook. The cook from time to time steps aside to gather more ingredients, or more components.

When that happens, as I’m sitting around watching the cook work, I’m compelled to step forward and stir the pot a bit so it doesn’t burn – but only while the cook is away. It’s like a natural ebb and flow between us, as I step forward and recede.

It’s an interesting little image because I don’t see myself as the cook, but I still do have a role in the process of creating this whole pot of things. The cook never asks for my involvement, I just naturally respond to the need.

What’s obvious to me, in terms of what this image means relative to our ongoing transition here in Las Vegas, is that everywhere we go things are constantly being redesigned in terms of their various functions within the greater Las Vegas environment. It’s an ongoing evolution – nothing is static in terms of the elements of the city fulfilling their roles to the utmost of their possibility.

So part of this message is to understand that nothing is to be denied, that everything is part of the mix, and it’s just a matter of being able to handle that, of being able to work with that, and to not become overwhelmed (which is when our ego protections fill the gap created by such disconnections).

The magic, of course, is in working with all the ingredients that can be added that can cause or allow something to unfold or happen. We can (safely) get lost in that magic as life flows this way and that, just as there is magic in the ways of Las Vegas. We can see everything as a flow of light.

Las Vegas already does its best to simulate the flow of light – that’s what’s so intriguing about it. But who is able to pierce the veils, because each person tends to go off into their own little octave? As a consequence, we might appreciate it in a certain linear way, or sometimes get a little overwhelmed because we see ourselves as not catching up because we’re not in the flow of it.

Whether we are speaking of a city, or of a spiritual journey, humans are not meant to impose their personal expectations on life as it exists and is flowing. We are meant to include ourselves in the flow, knowing that we carry all the protection we need through our deeper connection to Divine Will.

John: So yesterday we looked at the first in this series of dreams (see Not Being There), and each subsequent dream progresses in a way that seeks to fix, or evolve, the situation into a better state, from within, but it’s still off. The general inspiration for these dreams is our recent transition from the Northwest to the city of Las Vegas, and our process of making adjustments within ourselves as a result of the different environmental factors

The next images have me preparing to meet with someone. I’ve spent more than 15 minutes trying to get my glasses clean because all kinds of weird stuff has fallen on them. I’m trying to scrape it off.

I see that I’m veering away from where I’m expected to go. When I get to a building, I realize that I still need some sort of metal object that can slice; I need something that’s strong and firm enough that it can cut through things. I must build it myself.

I have permission to go into an area where odds and ends are stored to select something that might work to help rectify the condition. I take out four objects in an effort to alleviate the situation. I think I can use a welding tool to cobble things into place, but what I’ve selected doesn’t work because when I apply any heat to it, it will melt or burn through the material. The tools I have do not have what it takes to hold something in place, so I’m using this material to create something that can slice through.

Meanwhile, I need to set this project aside because I’m running late and I nearly compromise my principles because I’m under pressure. At the last minute I clean up after the work I’ve done.

In other words, I tried to cut a little of this off, I tried to burn a little of that off, and I made a bit of a mess. I pick up after myself and take what’s left of the implements – they need to be returned. They didn’t work for me, but maybe they can be used as components for something else. I look around to see if I can make anything else work for what I need.

Someone is coming over so I have to put everything aside for now. But instead of putting the tools into a closet or some drawers where they would best be kept, I put some of them into a refrigerator. I can straighten that out later, but at the moment I need to gain some composure for my meeting.

What is this showing me? Well, although I still haven’t accomplished what I was trying to do, I’m aware of what the problem is – I just haven’t acquired the proper tools that I need to be successful.

However, I do realize that I must look within myself for what I need, in order to find balance in the outer life. This will take time, but at least I’m looking around (within) for the tools to resolve the imbalance. If I were looking for the solution in the outer life, I would be in serious trouble.

In the next dream, the imagery moves further toward a sense of completion (after that, my dreams again start to deviate from it, showing that nothing is complete, all is just a step forward and then it all starts over again).

In this dream, I find a condo that I feel I can make into a place of balance. I notice that in doing this, other apartment units near mine start changing, shaping themselves up to be more in a balanced energetic.

So what had been a state of confusion and chaos, in terms of everything being too much to cope with (because of the sensory overload of Las Vegas), is now being brought into greater alignment. I see that I’m able to move about without feeling so lost.

What this adds to the scenario is that, if I take the time to look at what lies within – as an awareness, or as an answer – I’m better able to flow in the maze of the outer world. I’m learning how to hold onto and apply an inner connection that is able to reach into all that is before me.

And I’m starting to find the value latent within (the outer world of Las Vegas) that I ordinarily don’t reach (nor do most people). Nearly everyone in Las Vegas is expecting to catch up with the meaning of this place in some sort of outer reflection, and that is just a veil over what is really here.

Jeane: There were three dreams last night, and I will have to see if the middle one comes back.

The first dream is more like a very brief scene: I work for an agency that’s either governmental or does business with the government. We send a lot of information back and forth by courier, in briefcases.

What’s changed is that now with the Internet, and electronic methods of sending information, we don’t have to send everything that way. This means that we’re not at the mercy of the people that used to charge us a lot of money to use their couriers.

We still have to send a certain amount of things the old fashioned way – in briefcases back and forth – but the Internet has freed us up to have more power or options and not be at the mercy of that one company.

John: What you’re describing is a certain type of access – you’re describing a process. When I went to sleep the question I was asking was about the processes of a spiritual life. It concerned the idea of “waking up,” and “Is this a destiny that’s meant for everyone?”

What seemed to want to come through wasn’t a “yes” or “no” answer,  but rather a look at the various aspects of the process of how one does wake up in terms of the spiritual light. What I saw was the sense of, “Yes, it’s for everyone, but only in due time.”

So it’s interesting that your dream seems to have jumped in on that, because what you’re describing are further steps of the process. In other words, we all have lower- and higher-self aspects, and during our waking life and our dreaming life, part of us is always going back and forth between the two.

It’s like the in-breath and the out-breath goes back and forth, first traveling to a point where you “find a home” on the in-breath, and then you travel all the way down to a state of longing on the out-breath. That process is described by your courier going back and forth.

In your dream, it feels like a struggle with the courier because of the slowness and the expense. It’s a little awkward. Yet part of you realizes that there’s something more that has awakened inside of you, because what the courier is carrying back and forth is important – it’s part of a necessary process.

But then we see how that evolves, and you find you have a new type of access that is much faster and economical, shown by the use of the Internet. This is a much more instantaneous connection. So rather than the laborious nature of a courier, as a means of traveling between your higher and lower self, you’ve reached a place where there’s an instantaneous knowing (the Internet).

So that’s a big step forward from the the clumsiness of traveling by foot, which is the clumsiness of our lower self – of our ego-based (non-spiritual) life. That’s what we are all at the mercy of until we wake up. So as a process, with the courier you discovered that communication between the higher and lower was important, and then you made the next step, moving out of your ego-based life onto a spiritual path, and that has given you faster access and greater knowing.

Until one awakens to the idea that there is much more to available to us if we choose it consciously, the back and forth action is lost in the noise of an ego-based life focus. So there is even an earlier point where we have to consciously choose to aim our life toward the universal, rather than the personal.

Your dream shows you’ve made it through the stage of consciously choosing, and you have entered a different zone, and from there you can begin to make greater and greater connection to the guidance of your higher self.

In the example of Internet access, you’re shown how everything in the universe is linked together. You’ve reached a point where you can see that your light is the light of the whole.
