Jeane: I lost some of my dream, but it feels mostly like I was wandering around the markets and alleyways (in Egypt), looking for how something flowed. I was looking for which streets had a little more space so that goods could move down them more freely.

Then I see this scene where there’s a turnstile to exit an area, and the teacher we are traveling with comes up on the outside of the turnstile. You’re standing in front of me heading through the turnstile to leave the area, and the teacher comes up, facing you, with a grin on his face. He takes all of his American money out of his pockets and puts it in a box that’s at the turnstile, and he grins.

John: This dream is about a missing link, in terms of how something opens up. Things don’t open up just because we put our attention on a particular perspective. It can sometimes appear that things work that way, but because we’re playing in a world of shadows, it’s not a real manifestation. There’s an energetic behind it which is real, but what occurs in the outer is only reflective of that, so in some regard we’re still deceived.

Your dream portrays this situation as a question: How is it that something opens up and flows more freely? That’s the space you’re feeling. Within you, you’re able to see that something in the outer doesn’t flow when it’s caught up. For example, when you’re trying to force an outcome, then things can’t flow.

The role of a teacher is to hand things off so more and more can keep flowing. There was a woman in Germany who took people on spiritual-based journeys involving our Teacher. Later, our Teacher basically indicated that he couldn’t participate anymore, so it was handed off to her.

Well, she got caught up in the doingness of that, which really showed in her personal condition when we saw her next, so the Teacher just said she should stop doing it altogether. In other words, it can really be asking for trouble to start playing in a zone in which there’s a hiddenness piled on top of a hiddenness.

So, what’s the hiddenness in this dream? The idea that something more can happen, which is not obvious or apparent, as a result of something being released. Who releases these things? Well the Teacher would say that he’s not responsible for anything; if you find yourself in a position where you have a responsibility toward something, then something has been compromised.

So what you’re doing is you’re looking at something, but what you’re not quite seeing are the levels underneath that become possible when something has been taken on or absorbed. So it’s like you’re at a turning point, which showed as the turnstile opening up something so much more.

The changes that happen in life are the consequence of a human being being able to facilitate the things that are meant to be in Creation, i.e., to catch that drift so that something more can happen. Not the “doingness” of it, but just catching the drift. The doingness just keeps things blocked.

There are three levels beneath what your dream is showing you. You’re dealing with the first level, where something is released so that something more can open up. You’re starting to look at how magic works. That’s one of the techniques and tools of magic: for something to suddenly change and come into a different way of being, there has to be a release of something.

So what is it that’s meant, and able, to come into being? Well, if you’re really quiet with yourself you can feel it in your bones, so to speak. You don’t know the timing – it’s ancient. You just feel it in your bones. You sense it, in the present, in this slowed down space of Creation (physical life).

That doesn’t mean that it manifests here. What manifests here is the stuff that’s louder, that we put our attention upon, that we don’t know how to be calm about. That’s what manifests here. And all that tends to gobble up the moment-to-moment reality so that the other three levels can’t peek through.

You’re having a dream about something. You’re looking at a general scenario and the only hint you get of there being so much more is when you see the teacher, smiling at the turnstile, freeing himself up of burden. It’s interesting, isn’t it?

John: In the next dream I notice that there are game animals roaming around the local area. I think I report it to someone, or talk to others about it.

So this image is from a different dream, but it continues on the prior image (see Into the Woods) where I sense that there are animals hidden in the deeper forest. Permission was given to seek out those animals that very few people ever seek – though I didn’t see them in that dream.

In this image, that which had been veiled or hidden (by the dense forest) becomes made known, becomes familiar (the animals are in the local area); it emerges into the visible realms. The key to these “hidden animals” becoming visible seems to be based on the idea that those who naturally follow that which touches them from within are the ones who are able to take that energetic and touch all of life, as a spark, awakening things in others.

We all respond differently to life, and different things light us up from within. Too often, we take that inner spark and become personally indulgent with it – we overdo it. But there’s something behind these inner sparks, which can be understood as a vibrational note that resonates within as an excitement. It’s from that spark that something is quickened in us.

These deeper inner connections then emerge or manifest into our life, but we don’t want to forget that they come from the Nothingness (rather than from us). This next dream image shows the risks of becoming too indulgent with this quickened energy.

In this image I’ve been affected by something that’s quickened or excited me (something has emerged) and in this quickened state I’m bolder about things than I normally would be.

I see our teacher passing by in a crowd. Ordinarily I would just acknowledge that he’s there, but instead I eagerly seek him out.

Just before he passes through a doorway and out of sight, I catch up to him. In a quiet voice he indicates that he has been hurt by something that happened. My immediate inflection is that he’s hurt by the fact that I’ve searched him out in a particular energetic way (a personally indulgent way) instead of holding on to Nothingness, which is the state that the teacher holds.

His statement of being hurt shows a type of giving up, in order to enable him to approach something from another way. I can sense that he’s not projecting his usual power, which I sometimes read as a type of aloofness or distance that I can feel wounded by.

He comments that he’s just not feeling well. A person’s wellness at the level of the teacher is associated with the wellness of the whole, and he then refers to something that he revealed to me in the past (in real life), but I’m not sure I can pull out any details about that.

This dream takes me back to an inner point where there’s the recognition of how, in the real depths within, there’s nothing but Nothingness. What I described earlier (the animals) came out of the Nothingness and, as a consequence, I’m able to see that the original spark must be a bit like a thought of God, which is intended to effect Creation.

So I’m again looking at the station of Nothingness, which is a state that exists prior to Oneness, in which or from which the sensations that have yet to manifest into Creation are occurring. This last dream image refers back to that.

In other words, this imagery causes the realization that what arises from the Nothingness comes through as an inflective force, a vibration that’s exciting. Then, in manifesting into Creation, it portrays the whole process of why Creation is important, in the sense of how it brings something out of the Nothingness, for seeing and hearing purposes, and in doing so, reveals that a human being really is the intermediary of that evolutionary process.

John: In yesterday’s dream (see Thick as a Brick) we see you on a path toward a wholeness (toward your home where your mother waits), but you become distracted on the way. This distraction, or deviation, causes a sense of shame or guilt in you, to the point where you can’t get close to the teacher – you want to hide – whose home you have found yourself in.

From a human perspective, we each hold the guilt of having cut ourselves off from the Divine connection, from the wholeness, that was meant for us all along.

Your dream is indicating that there’s a process by which you can come out from this hiding, or from this way you have veiled yourself, and it has to do with being found. The teacher does the “finding,” i.e., somehow you have put yourself under the guidance of the teacher.

In other words, you’ve fallen within the scope, or the domain, of a depth within you, where the teacher can reach you, but you still feel that you’ve done something wrong and you still feel the need to veil yourself. That isn’t how redemption, or grace, or forgiveness, is meant to work.

The teacher, who is actually you at a deep inner level, can’t find its way back to the wholeness that’s deeply imbedded within you, but is able to re-find you because you have come close enough in proximity that he’s able to see through that which lies in between and create the linkage by which you can then make your way back.

So what happens next?

Jeane: It’s time to go into the next room where the teacher’s wife has cooked a meal. As I go by I see her and another woman – they have plates but there’s no food on them. There’s a lamb dish with gravy and a very bright bundle of asparagus in the middle. I take out an asparagus spear. Then the dream shifts a little.

After having eaten the asparagus I go into a larger dream group to tell them of the dream. As I begin, before I get to the part with the teacher, they interrupt to ask questions or get more specific detail.

I’m aware that that will break the flow of energy, so I look out into the group (it’s important that I tell the dream) and I see you in the back. You’re sitting very tall and have a certain light to you; I know you’ll hold the energy of bringing the dream through so I can focus. Then it shifts again.

John: Here you’re describing an aspect of maturity. In other words, at the level where everything is made known, or is given, or where the teaching occurs, there’s a depth in you that has been touched in a way that opens up to a note. But it isn’t yet held complete by the whole of you.

Bringing it through, so that all parts of you can come into alignment, isn’t a matter of detail, it’s a matter of vibration. Certain parts of you are still affected by shame or veiling or a defense mechanism that disturbs the vibration from coming fully through (the disruptions from the group).

So you realize that you have to hold your attention to what’s meant to come through, which is an aspect of the masculine (you see me sitting in the back), and you have a sense inside but in order for that sense to come alive and spread and encompass and take in even more you have to hold your focus to the clarity of the Divine Will that’s within the vibration.

If you can hold your attention on that it will help you hold the note, because that’s the conversation that you have to connect with, that’s the important thing, not all the deviations that go off this way and that. If you hold that central theme, then the rest can come through for all parts of you.

That’s really what a teacher does. There are parts of us, as in the main dream image, that have become wayward and think that there’s a certain perspective or way of rising above something (the stadium) that involves going off on a tangent. This further confuses the situation or contaminates the flow of the magnetic depth trying to awaken within to pull you forward.

The teacher in your main dream carried that note, carried that quality, saw right through all of the contrivances that were founded in shame and a lack of forgiveness.

The second part of your dream changes the depiction of this feeling from shame to a sense that something isn’t able to stay focused and settled enough to catch what’s meaningful, which is the vibration. It becomes a quality of hiding, and as long as you conduct yourself like that you’ll keep yourself cut off from the deeper levels.
