Spiritual-PowerMan seems to have always been seeking power. Yet perhaps originally that power was internal, or a power that comes from greater connection beyond oneself, rather than a means of physical control of others. We may have lost this understanding on a cultural level, but on an inner level, and through our dreams, we are constantly being nudged back to our inner truth. It’s just a matter of whether we want to hear it. (At the end of this post there are instructions and a link to download this recording to your computer.)

John: Then I had this other dream. I’m trying to get away from an inevitable unfoldment by going through kind of a backdoor approach and using this to try to realize what I’m missing. For this backdoor approach to work, I need more energetic power and clarity. I need to see and/or find a way back. You use more energy to do this. You need more power to do this.

What the meditation dream and the sleep dream are both telling me, is that there is a way out, but I am not recognizing it at this time. But because I see the problem, this means that I will reach the result that I seek.

So, how does that fit with yours? With yours, you’re taking and recognizing that you shift now and utilize your energy. As you become more conscious, your consciousness ties things together in terms of how they are as a process in the outer. You recognize what fits and supports or heals the outer.

My nature is to try to figure out how to go back through a flow that has happened, to backtrack or backdoor through it. Because where it has taken one, the result is not going to be sufficient. And even to backdoor something, you can’t sit there and noodle at what took place. You aren’t going to figure it out that way. You’re going to know how to do it naturally, if you can find more energy.

So, in my dream, there’s the need to just automatically shift and come into more energy—or more power—and when you come into more power, you come into an understanding of how to do it.

Otherwise, the lower side or part of yourself is that when you’re afflicted, then you’re continually trying to figure out based upon what occurred, which is a type of going backwards into what occurred. You’re continually trying to figure out how to resolve it or to figure something out. And it can never work that way because it is always about something deeper and more meaningful.

And you took it to a point where, because it’s always about that unfolding in terms of who you are, that you have to continually access more power or energy inside of yourself in order to keep taking those steps. This is a form of awakening.

The way the dreams are connected is the form of awakening has to do with me accessing a certain degree of inner power to which to bring in the clarity of a situation that’s naturally known, but cannot be known if I just study the situation per se, because then I’ll only be bulldozing myself or making a mockery of this or that, or that or the other. In other words, whatever I come up with, is only going to be as good as the data that I feed into it, which is going to be outer consequences and circumstances.

When one accesses more energetic power and whatnot inside, then they have the natural knowingness and clarity in terms of what to do. That natural clarity and knowingness comes through and it becomes part of the feminine nature in which, in life the feminine nature as it becomes more conscious stops its doingness and carrying on so much, but then can tend to become a little too aloof because it’s not necessarily as bothered or as fettered by things.

But then with the additional power with the clarity that comes through, it then knows how to maintain because it always has to maintain its natural roots into life. And so it is the one that can bring in that change.

In this particular case the change that was needed, that also kept you part of a oneness, both on the inner and on the outer level, was the establishing of this alcohol and drug quality program. And, in doing that, you maintained yourself as part of what was going on and you wouldn’t have otherwise.

The thing that kind of brought your attention back was this drug and alcohol program that was established, or otherwise you would have just continued to feel yourself wispier and wispier, coming and going in and out the window. This tended to create a magnetism or a top-to-bottom connectivity.

So, the way the dreams, like I say, fit together, the masculine takes and has to address and access the power that it needs to know how to see how something comes one way and then the other way, comes both directions properly, appropriately.

The feminine understanding that, or gaining an understanding of that, is able to then introduce that into the creation. And in doing so, that keeps her from getting too spiritually ungrounded because the weight of things falls off. She’s naturally inclined to be doing things, but how you do things is a whole other thing.

And now, she’s able to do things from a naturalness, as opposed to doing things as part of a neurosis where she’s caught up in this, that, or the other that hasn’t been sorted out in her nature, which is more in the lines in terms of how the feminine was, or tends to be, when it doesn’t have this process, you know, working with it. It tends to look this way or that way. It tends to have to be overwhelmed by all of the neuroses of itself and, therefore, isn’t able to do something effectively for life.

This dream actually tends to show you how you establish an independence and a strength. It shows that the two parts don’t just lean on each other, they have to operate autonomously, or otherwise, there’s something missing.

John: The thing we have to look at in life is a need to realize that we’re playing with a level of magic. And to reach that magic we need to learn how to let go of things without causing too great an indulgence.

An indulgence can come in many ways. It can be nothing more than a tone, or a mannerism, that we take on, as if we’re entitled to take it on. Or it can involve the rising up, in our nature, of anything other than the qualities of attentiveness and compassion. And an indulgence can involve our automated reactions to our life experiences.

My dream is set in medieval times – there are castles and everything. I find myself, and the group I’m with, being overrun by invading forces who have swept through the land and taken over.

Instead of running or retreating, however, our teacher keeps us pressing on into the territory that’s just been taken from us. It’s like we’re ignoring what’s happened and we’re heading right into the enemy’s reinforcements.

The enemy has decimated our position and left us powerless. We don’t even have weapons to defend ourselves. Still, rather than give up, or retreat, or regroup, the teacher has us proceeding along, as if he knows something the invaders don’t.

I can sense that the enemy closely monitors every move we make. They see us out in the open, instead of being wise and pulling back. The teacher seems fully aware of what he’s doing – he even says that we’re getting very close to where we may be subject to an ambush.

I complain about not having any weapons to defend an attack, which seems imminent. The teacher agrees. Our movements are like a display of deep inner faith, because nothing about our circumstances indicates that these are the actions we should take.

Then the dream shifts, and I notice that there’s a veil that separates us from the invading forces. A moment earlier it felt like we were surrounded and our every move was observed. Now it feels like we’re not as helpless as I thought. With this shift, I can see a barrier separating us from the enemy.

I also had an earlier image where I saw a dog lunge forward to take food right out of my hand.

The meaning of these dreams is that there’s a place deep inside in which trust defies the limitations of the outer. They show that, first and foremost, I must trust and abide in my inner connections. If I get too enamored at what I have externally, or I think that I’m holding a particular space (symbolized by territory or food) that’s important, something can come at any moment and take it away from me.

In other words, if my attachments are too heavily based in the physical realms rather than the spiritual realms, then the “invaders” can swoop in and take it. Even the dog, which is a symbol of friendship, will snatch what I hold onto right out of my hand.

However, if I can follow my inner guidance and ignore outer appearances, I can thread myself through any obstacle. It’s when I react to what outer appearances imply or suggest, and let them guide my actions – like retreating in fear – I throw away my inner connection and my trust. Then I can only live in constant fear of losing myself or, I live in a fear in which I do lose myself.

The forces in outer life will always be bigger than I am, because what is hidden actually yields to them, or stays dormant in the presence of them. It is only by me trusting in what is hidden, trusting that I’m in good hands, can I help bring what is hidden out into the open – into life.

Next I have an image that adds information to these dreams. I mean, I could say that something’s missing from the first image because the kind of trust that’s being asked for, few people in their right mind would be able to muster, unless they had “heard” some guidance.

It’s like the story in the Quran where Moses meets the “Servant of God,” later identified as Khidr. Moses asks to accompany him in order to learn, and is told that he has to abide by whatever Khidr does and not question him. Moses agrees, yet each time Khidr takes an action, Moses, shocked by what he sees, always questions what has been done.

It’s not until Moses has broken his promise for the last time and the two must part that Khidr reveals the true compassion behind his actions, a compassion that was hidden from Moses because of his limited viewpoint.

So, in this dream I’m shown a force that has four levels to it. I’m told that the last person to approach this force inadvertently awoke a lion ferocity that had been asleep therein.

As fearful as I feel, I can’t help but notice that the roaring ferocity of the lion is only active on the first level, but that there are three other levels that are still dormant. My sense is that these three levels can only come into being (be awakened) when one has stilled the first level.

In other words, what’s required to pass the first level is to not react to the ferocity of the lion. The law of the lion who is rudely awakened is that he controls the appearance of the present.

In other words, as in the prior image where the invaders seemed to have every visible advantage, there’s still more to consider than what’s immediately discernible. If we react to the most obvious – our external reality, the invaders, a ferocious lion – it becomes the only level we see and experience. In a sense, the strength of our reaction (the ferocity of the lion) confirms it as our reality. Yet that’s a very limited viewpoint that cuts us off from deeper levels of knowing and inner guidance.

John: We’ve been examining what it means to surrender to the flow of life (see Playing it Safe). When we resist that, by being a slave to our own personal involvements, psychologies, and patterns, we disconnect from everything else in the universe. That’s how we deceive ourselves.

But, if we can get out of our own way, we then somehow gain access to natural knowings about what to do next. Said another way, we are more able to appreciate the flow if we take personal aspects out of the equation and connect strictly to what is natural (universal), or predesigned, in terms of Divine Will.

The closeness of the connection is determined by the degree to which we are able to step aside from our ego-based experience and instead participate more like a natural, living organism in what is unfolding.

It’s an aliveness, and it comes with catching up with Divine Will, beginning from our inner selves and reflecting that into the outer world, and then it begins to work from the outer world into our inner lives. That is the whole cycle of creation, when a human being is living as they’re meant to live – open to the heart of hearts of life itself.

Basically humans have come to believe, through our self-centered view of life, that our safety is based in our personal protections. But those become the veils of illusion – they’re like our own personal filters – which prevent us from seeing and experiencing the whole of life.

The removal of these veils leads to us to an understanding about the evolution of the soul in the greater scheme of things. Said another way, it’s like the light from within rises up to touch the light of Divine Will, which comes down to touch the spiritual, universal essence imbedded within each of us.

I have this dream image in which there is a great big pot of soup, or stew, being cooked. It’s a huge melting pot of things, and there is a cook. The cook from time to time steps aside to gather more ingredients, or more components.

When that happens, as I’m sitting around watching the cook work, I’m compelled to step forward and stir the pot a bit so it doesn’t burn – but only while the cook is away. It’s like a natural ebb and flow between us, as I step forward and recede.

It’s an interesting little image because I don’t see myself as the cook, but I still do have a role in the process of creating this whole pot of things. The cook never asks for my involvement, I just naturally respond to the need.

What’s obvious to me, in terms of what this image means relative to our ongoing transition here in Las Vegas, is that everywhere we go things are constantly being redesigned in terms of their various functions within the greater Las Vegas environment. It’s an ongoing evolution – nothing is static in terms of the elements of the city fulfilling their roles to the utmost of their possibility.

So part of this message is to understand that nothing is to be denied, that everything is part of the mix, and it’s just a matter of being able to handle that, of being able to work with that, and to not become overwhelmed (which is when our ego protections fill the gap created by such disconnections).

The magic, of course, is in working with all the ingredients that can be added that can cause or allow something to unfold or happen. We can (safely) get lost in that magic as life flows this way and that, just as there is magic in the ways of Las Vegas. We can see everything as a flow of light.

Las Vegas already does its best to simulate the flow of light – that’s what’s so intriguing about it. But who is able to pierce the veils, because each person tends to go off into their own little octave? As a consequence, we might appreciate it in a certain linear way, or sometimes get a little overwhelmed because we see ourselves as not catching up because we’re not in the flow of it.

Whether we are speaking of a city, or of a spiritual journey, humans are not meant to impose their personal expectations on life as it exists and is flowing. We are meant to include ourselves in the flow, knowing that we carry all the protection we need through our deeper connection to Divine Will.
